As a mother, I want to be down on my hands and knees building sandcastles, elbow-deep in slime, and taking the aquatic plunge with my kids because this time with them is precious and all too short. On one of our recent trips, my son told me that the best part of our vacation was the time I spent going down the water slide with him. But admittedly, sometimes I don’t want to get dirty or put on the swimsuit that will reveal to the world my imperfect, post-baby body. So with swimsuit season dangerously close, I decided to pick up a few stylish swimsuit cover-ups from Catalina to complement the modest two-pieces I purchased last month.
Available exclusively at Walmart, Catalina Swimwear offers an expansive selection of on-trend styles designed for comfort and fit. As a mother, I tend to choose modest swimsuits offering sufficient coverage and I’ve found that the styles offered by Catalina suit my needs in this stage of my life. I particularly like their two-piece mix and match swimsuits since I have never worn the same size in a swimsuit top and bottom.
The first cover-up I purchased was a pair of Crochet Swim Cover-Up Pull-On Pants. Featuring an elastic waist with a jersey fold-over waistband, these pants are roomy, ultra-comfy and stylish. I slip them on immediately after a swim for lounging around the pool. One unexpected benefit is that they help me stay warm when I’m still drying off after spending time in the water.
This cover-up is available in Rich Black and Arctic White and will complement nearly any swim suit style, irrespective of the colors or prints. At $13.96, I’m tempted to pick up a second pair for our longer trips so I don’t have to keep up with washing them daily.
The second cover-up I purchased was a Tie-Front Crochet Tunic in Pink Taffy to compliment the Tiki Tribal Bandeau Tankini Suit I purchased last month. The swimsuit has a touch of pink, vibrantly brought out by the color of the tunic. This cover-up features a crochet design and is made from a polyester/spandex blend. It’s lightweight and breezy enough to wear on the hottest of days and provides sufficient, stylish coverage. You can purchase this cover-up in a variety of colors at your local Walmart store for $13.96.
In addition to the retro styles I showed you last month, I thought I’d highlight a 2015 swimwear trend we’re already seeing. Knit and crochet styles are hugely popular (even in men!) and Catalina offers a gorgeous suit for under $10. This Basic Crochet One-Piece Swimsuit features a polyester/spandex fabric blend, a scoop neck and spaghetti straps for classy coverage. The suit is available in four colors and retails for $9.96.
While the Summer season is still several weeks away, now is the time to shop for swimwear to secure the best sizes and styles. This is particularly important if you are opting for Catalina’s Mix ‘n Match two-piece sets.
While you’re shopping, don’t forget to pick-up your favorite fun-in-the-sun essentials including sandals/flip-flops, sunscreen, towels, and hats.
