I am the girl who, before getting married, used to get last minute tickets to live theater and attend productions solo. I love the arts, particularly musical theatre, and try to see a live performance a few times a year. My husband and share that passion, but we realize the expense that is involved.
We recently traveled to New York, and one of activities on our “must-do” list was to see a show. Since our time was limited, I used StubHub to get tickets to Cirque du Soleil’s Zarkana about an hour before the show started. For those unfamiliar with the ticket marketplace, StubHub offers a reliable place for fans to buy and sell tickets to a wide variety of events including sports games, concerts, and theater. All of the transactions are processed and delivered by StubHub, who offers a FanProtect Guarantee.
A couple of weeks ago, StubHub launched a new loyalty rewards program called StubHub Fan Rewards which offers rewards for eligible purchases. Here is how it works:
1. Sign up. It’s free!
2. Earn 2 percent in rewards for each eligible purchase.
3. When you reach $10 in rewards, you’re eligible for a $10 FanCode too use on future purchases.
3. When you sign up, you automatically get enrolled into the Star level.
4. Make 10 purchases or spend $2,000 in a calendar year and you’re eligible for SuperStar level where you’ll earn 3% in rewards on all purchases and the possibility of seat upgrades and priority invitations to StubHub loyalty events.
During the LA launch, locals and visitors received tickets and prizes from The Ticket Oak and StubHub donated $5 for each mini Ticket Oak leaf colored by a child to LA-based organization Inner-City Arts, which provides art education to students. The Ticket Oak is StubHub’s “mascot” and handpicks deals, all of which are under $50.
Here are some of my tips on using StubHub:
1. Check the site often. New deals (tickets for events) are always being posted.
2. Be flexible to get the best deal. Ticket prices can vary greatly from day to day.
3. Last minute deals can be a steal. If you have the time and can attend a show last minute, wait until that day. Ticket prices will begin to drop as it gets closer to show time. However, there is the possibility that others will be doing the same and you may not get the deal if you wait until the end.
