I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.
– Mary Anne Radmacher
Beauty and the Beast perfectly captures the old world feel with the castle they chose for the film. I had my very first taste of Europe when I was in my early twenties. I couldn’t get enough of the people, the history, the architecture. A few years later, I did the unimaginable…I sold my car, put everything I owned into storage, and moved to Edinburgh for nearly a year. Nearly ten years later and those magical months still reign supreme as the most impressive moments in my life.
Hans Christian Andersen once said that “to travel is to live,” and he couldn’t have been more accurate. Traveling the world has grown me in so many ways and has inspired a deeper appreciation for home. The types of experiences you gain during travel have a far-reaching, longstanding impact. I still communicate with some of the nurses I met during my time working at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Courage, empathy, creativity and flexibility are just some of the life lessons I’ve come away from my travels with. If you long to see the world, you’ll love HomeAway’s latest contest in partnership with Beauty and the Beast.
Beauty and the Beast is Almost Here
On March 17th, 2017, Disney will debut a live-action adaptation of the animated classic Beauty and the Beast. Starring Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast, and Luke Evans as Gaston, the film will detail the story of Belle, a vibrant, independent woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her apprehension, Belle befriends the castle’s magical staff and looks beyond the Beast’s monstrous exterior to discover the kind heart and soul of the Prince within. Beauty and the Beast will stay true to the original music while updating the score with new songs. The classic characters you love will also be refashioned for a contemporary audience. The film also stars Kevin Kline as Maurice, Josh Gad as Lefou, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, and Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts.
