Spring Beauty Staples From P&G

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Most days, I consider myself to be a typical thirty-something wife and mother.  Our life is relatively uneventful, but never boring.  From the moment we wake up, it is a pretty constant flow of activities that include making meals, reading stories, washing dishes, refereeing sibling disputes, folding laundry, fixing boo boos, getting crafty and baking vegan cupcakes.  There isn’t time for flat irons, mascara, or stilettos, which means you’ll often see me in jeans, hair pulled back, minimal if any makeup.  Five years ago, I would have laughed if someone told me I’d be out in public like this. But the reality is that raising two little people takes time, and despite the effort, it’s completely worth it.

Because I am constantly giving and doing and being, I value the time my husband and mother afford me to pamper myself. Whether it’s a weekend away, a one hour massage at our local day spa, or simply 30 minutes to take a bath and shave my legs, that little bit of time spent focusing on me does wonders for refocusing and renewing myself.

I recently received a delightful beauty kit from P&G.  It was filled with all kinds of wonderful goodies designed to celebrate moms…women. With some of the latest products from Olay, COVERGIRL, and Pantene, I’ve been experimenting with a few looks, mostly those that don’t take a lot of time and that can be worn on both play dates and dates with my husband.

If I had to choose just a handful of beauty staples that I wear everyday, they would include a good moisturizer (preferably with SPF), a foundation that provides adequate coverage without feeling weighty, and a shiny red lip gloss that I could wear daily. Anything additional (eyeliner, mascara, blush, eyeshadow) is just icing on the cake!

The kit I received included the following products (I listed them in the order I use them):

Clean & Mild Make-Up Remover Cloths from Olay: I love how easy these cloths are to use.  With a few swipes, I can get foundation, blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara off quickly and effectively.  They’re also incredibly handy for traveling.

Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream by Olay: In my twenties, fine lines and wrinkles seemed like a lifetime away.  Now I religiously moisturize day and night.  This cream is incredibly hydrating and was designed to firm and smooth problem areas.  Tip: Wear it twice a day and under your foundation.

Tone Rehab 2-in-1: Foundation by COVERGIRL & Olay: I always use products that can serve multiple purposes whenever possible.  This foundation/serum offers flawless coverage while hydrating to help improve skin tone and fine lines/wrinkles.

Blast Flipstick by COVERGIRL:  With this new dual-ended flipstick, you can create three different looks.  Available in 13 different shade combinations, one side features a cream, the other a shimmer.  Blend the two for a unique look.

LashBlast 24Hr Mascara by COVERGIRL: Because I was blessed with thick, long eyelashes, I don’t often wear mascara unless I’m going out.  If you’re looking for a bold, lasting look, this is a great mascara. However, I did find it difficult to remove with just the Make-Up Remover Cloths.

Aqua-Light Shampoo and Conditioner by Pantene:  This is one of the few conventional hair care products I’ve found to be free from Silicone, Dyes, and Parabens.  If you find your shampoo/conditioner leaves a residue, weighing down your hair, you’ll appreciate the fact that the gentle clean and light conditioner offer a weightless finish. The only thing I’d like to see is an entire product line addressing different types of hair (dry/damaged, etc.).

What are your beauty must-haves?  Do you have any tried and true tricks for achieving your favorite look, even when you’re in a hurry?

Disclosure:  I participate in the Walmart Moms program and am compensated for my time and honest opinions.
