Spotlight on dineLA’s Restaurant Week

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

One of the things I miss about living in LA is the ability to indulge in a 3 course Italian meal one night and grab an assortment of quick Spanish tapas the next.  This week begins dineLA’s Restaurant Week, where 330 of LA’s most sought-out restaurants offer special prix-fixe lunch and dinner menus to entice regulars and newbies to enjoy a gourmet culinary experience.  Along with showcasing some of the city’s best cuisine, locals and visitors will have an opportunity to dine in a variety of settings including poolside, patio, oceanfront, and garden. The lure of this 12-day event is that the prices are simply unbeatable.

The Redbury

Earlier this week, I experienced a taste of what the city will offer and I have to say, I only wish dineLA’s Restaurant Week was longer. Here are just a few of the dishes being served up over the next several days:

Albacore Ceviche

This Albacore Ceviche from Paichẽ was my very first experience with raw seafood and I have to admit that I’m hooked.  From acclaimed Chef Ricardo Zarate, Paichẽ offers small plates with a Peruvian twist and Latin wines and spirits.   The venue’s dinner menu includes a choice of two appetizers, two main dishes, and a dessert for $45.

Clam Chowder

Chef Jason Travi’s Atlantic-inspired seafood dishes include this creamy clam chowder, currently being served at littlefork. Their 3-course dinner menu is just $35, a steal for fresh seafood!

Porchetta Sandwiches

This Italian Porchetta Sandwich comes from Mercato di Vetro, an Italian Restaurant serving fresh antipasti and small plates in an open market-like setting. The restaurant’s 3-course dinner menu is just $25!

Falafel Pita

This Falafel Pita from Cleo is a vegetarian’s dream dish!  The Mediterranean-inspired dishes include fresh meat, seafood, and vegetable selections along with homemade flatbreads and a raw bar. Their 3-course dinner menu is just $35.

Salt and Pepper Donuts

The Salt and Pepper Caramel Donuts alone are worth a visit to BLD Restaurant. Featuring a variety of casual American cuisine, dishes include artisan cheeses, Mozzarella-Stuffed Squash Blossoms, Smoked Tofu, Grilled Coulotte Steak and more! Their 3-course meal is just $25.

Olives

dineLA’s Restaurant Week is a wonderful way for visitors and locals to experience the diverse culinary culture of Los Angeles in a way that is luxurious and affordable. With a variety of price points to choose from and 330 participating restaurants, you’ll likely only wish that this 12-day event lasted a little bit longer.

Chef Mariah Swan

In addition to the prix-fixe menus, American Express will offer a $5 statement credit to diners who register an eligible American Express Card at AmexNetwork.com/dineLA between July 23rd and July 26th, 2013 and spends $21 or more with the registered card at a participating restaurant.
