Spooky Eats and Treats *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 153 Comments

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by.  The winner is sweeter the berry. Congrats!

Since we’re in the spooky spirit, last week my son and I decided to decorate our Halloween Cookie House.  My son still talks about the Gingerbread House we decorated last year!  Since he’s still young, we opted for pre-baked and pre-assembled version, although Wilton does offer two pre-baked kits that you can assemble with your children.

The Halloween Cookie House includes everything you need (icing mix, candy, decorating bags and tips, instructions) to decorate your spooky house.  I think this house is perfect for younger children who don’t have the patience or dexterity to actually assemble a house.  Once we mixed the icing, we set to work “painting” our house.  The directions suggested tinting coconut green for grass but I improvised.  While you won’t get the textured look coconut provides, I tinted marshmallow green and used that for grass instead.

Even the hubby got involved!

Once the house is finished, you can set it up for display (or simply munch on the candy until you’re done with it!).  I’m actually quite impressed with how our Cookie House turned out! The most difficult part was getting the windows and doors to look right.  The black frosting actually dries shiny which is very cool to a 3 1/2 year old!  One quick note…cover the icing with a wet towel because it dries quickly if left out.

If you’re looking for Halloween baking and decorating ideas, visit Wilton’s Halloween site where you’ll find plenty of ways to make cakes, cupcakes, cookies, candies, and brownies spooky!

Win It! One of you will win a Halloween package which will include the Halloween Cookie House and the items you’ll need to make Smiling Pumpkin Lollipops (I’ll show you how in my next post).  Simply leave me a comment with another Halloween idea you’d like to re-create from the site.  Comments will close on October 9, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.  Duplicates and comments not including the above information will be disqualified. Comments are moderated. If you don’t see your comment in a reasonable amount of time, send me an email. Bloggers and non-bloggers may enter. If you don’t want to leave your email address, please be sure to check back for my announcement on the winner. Please note that winners must respond within 48 hours of being announced/contacted or another winner will be drawn.Want an extra entry? That house is adorable! I’ve never thought of creating a “gingerbread” house for Halloween, but that’s a very fun idea. I also love the pre-baked cookie kit from the Wilton’s site.
