Spooktacular Halloween Decorations Under $20

Despite the fact that Halloween is just two weeks away, I feel like we’ve been celebrating since school started mid-September.  We have costumes, pumpkins (both big and small) and sweet treats. The only thing left to check off on my “prepare for Halloween” list is to decorate.  While at my local Walmart last week, I found a ton of Halloween Decorations for under $20.

Halloween Decor at Walmart

We live in a neighborhood with a ton of families, so we always anticipate a large number of trick-or-treaters each Halloween.  While we won’t have a party, we do like having our front porch festively decorated with not-too-spooky decor so the kids in our neighborhood feel welcomed.  As we approach Halloween and the end of Daylight Savings, the evenings can get dark very early so lighting is important.  I picked up a set of 70 Orange Opaque Halloween Lights at my local Walmart for just $3.97 to light up the front of our house.  My husband weaved them through the bushes for an eerie lighted effect which eliminates the need for us to turn on our porch light on Halloween!

Outdoor Halloween Decor

An easy way to transform the front door is to use a door cover, offered at Walmart for just $0.97.  One thing that worked well to keep it secure was to staple it to the top of the door.  Walmart offers several different designs but we liked this Ghost one which is festive but not too scary.

Pumpkin Carving Supplies

Carving a pumpkin has been a tradition in our home since I was a child, and every year, new artistic ways of expressing creativity are introduced.  This year, Hallmark  is taking the art of pumpkin carving up a notch with their Light and Sound Pumpkin Talkers.  Available in 4 different designs, the kit includes a carving template and a motion-activated sound device that also lights up like a jack-o’-lantern.

Parents will appreciate the fact that they don’t have to stretch their artistic skills as children get more and more detailed with their carving requests.  Children will get a kick out of the fact that their pumpkin talks just like their favorite animated character. If you have more than one child, you could a. buy 2 pumpkins and 2 kits or b. carve different sides of 1 pumpkin (I wonder if the characters will talk to each other inside the pumpkin?).  Each kit is available at Walmart for $13.97.

Halloween Welcome Sign

A welcome sign is an easy, inexpensive way to show would-be candy-seekers the way to sweet bliss.  I picked up this sparkly spooky sign at Walmart for just $1.97.

Do you decorate for Halloween?  I’d love to see your spooky creativity!
