When Playhouse Disney evolved to become Disney Junior, I was pleased that they continued to air my son’s favorites including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Special Agent Oso, and Chuggington. Each show is unique and touches on a variety of topics including friendship and teamwork. Special Agent Oso, geared towards preschoolers, stars a teddy bear and special agent-in-training named Oso, who enlists the help of children and adults at home to complete his special assignments. Oso serves the United Network for Investigating Quite Usual Events (U.N.I.Q.U.E.), an international organization of stuffed animals who help kids accomplish everyday tasks like mailing a letter, cleaning their rooms or making a card.
In the fun, adventurous and investigative spirit of the show comes the latest line from Learning Curve which includes the Moonrover Training Pack, Oso, Dotty, and Wolfie Special Agents 3-Pack, R. R. Rapide Command Center, Snowmobile Training Pack, Submarine Training Pack, Whirly Bird, and Wolfie’s Motor Boat. We got a first look at the R. R. Rapide Command Center which replicates the French-speaking high-speed railroad car which takes Oso to his special assignments. Rapide, which expands to 3 feet, opens up to reveal a command center complete with an automatic jet pack loader, an elevator captain’s chair, an expandable central car, and a motorcycle launcher. Just like in the series, Rapide talks, lights up and carries all of the gear necessary for Oso to complete his assignments. The toy gets bonus points for the characters ability to magnetically open compartments with magnatech activation.
Children who watch the show will enjoy replicating “assignments” from the show with included Oso and Wolfy. My son enjoys expanding Rapide and launching Wolfie’s motorcycle out of it and has actually tried to launch a few of his other toy vehicles from the ramp. The only thing both my son and I aren’t crazy about is the fact that it comes apart easily. My son thinks it’s fun to “take it apart” but he’s unable to put it back together without my assistance.
Special Agent Oso’s R.R. Rapide Command Center retails for $39.99 and is available at retailers nationwide. It should be noted that the command center requires two triple A batteries which are not included.
