There’s a million things I want to do; people to meet, worlds to explore – Clara, The Nutcracker
The very first time I watched The Nutcracker was as a young girl at a small theater in LA. I was enchanted by the grace and precision of the ballerinas and the beauty of the music. I’ve seen a number of productions performed by ballet companies over the years, but still find myself captivated by the ballet.
On December 3rd, The Nutcracker Mariinsky Ballet will come to theaters across Southern California for a special 3D screening. The Nutcracker tells the story of young Clara, who is given a nutcracker doll by her godfather on Christmas Eve. Later that night, while Clara is asleep, she finds herself in the midst of the Nutcracker’s battle against the Mouse King and his army. The Nutcracker, who is transformed into a Prince, comes to Clara’s aid and together they journey to an enchanted island where spectacular celebrations are held in their honor.

This is a great way to take our girls to The Nutcracker…and we live close to LA Live, too. Yay!
My favorite memory of watching the Nutcracker was from backstage in full makeup and a tutu – I performed in the ballet every year as a child!
