As a parent, I’m constantly screening what my children are watching to ensure the content is wholesome, the stories are positive, and the characters are modeling behaviors worthy of being emulated. When Sofia the First debuted on Disney Junior, it was her kindness, compassion, and grace that drew us in to follow her adventures.
Today, Disney released Sofia the First: Ready to Be a Princess, a DVD which features 5 shows from the hit series. Set in the storybook world of Enchancia, the series follows the story of Sofia who has just moved into the castle with her mom who has married the king. This particular DVD follows Sofia and her friends as they visit an enchanted forest, meet a pet dragon, and soar through the skies on magic carpet ride. Throughout her adventures, Sofia comes to understand that honesty, loyalty, courage and independence are the characteristics that truly define a princess. Princess Jasmine also appears to inspire Sofia to try new things, stay strong, and believe in herself.
One of the things I love about Disney is their encouragement to talk about and expand upon the themes and stories they present as a family. This new DVD includes a free Dress-Up Doll Kit which will inspire pretend play and discussions about what it means to be a princess.
