Both of my children are at an age where what I do is just as important as what I say. Instilling positive character traits like kindness and honesty is an ongoing process and while discussion and role modeling are integral, I also carefully select the friends they hang around with, what they enjoy doing after school hours, and what content they are being exposed to online and via television.
We have always naturally gravitated towards Disney films and TV shows because we can attest to the quality of the content being produced. Memorable characters, cherished stories and vibrant animation converge in award-winning films and top-rated shows like Sofia the First, one of my daughter’s favorites. This show is particularly unique because it follows the adventures of little girl princess Sofia as she adjusts to royal life with her mom and the king she recently married. Although she doesn’t always know the right way to behave or have the perfect thing to say, she discovers that being a real princess means displaying kindness, generosity, loyalty, honesty, and grace.
In Sofia’s latest adventure, The Curse of Princess Ivy, she is joined by Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) as she works to defeat the evil Princess Ivy (Anna Camp) who is summoned when Amber seizes the Amulet of Avalor. Amber, Sofia, and Sofia soar through the skies on a flying dragon to stop Princess Ivy from destroying the amulet, seizing the crown and turning the entire kingdom black-and-white. This is one of Sofia’s most thrilling adventures to date and teaches children that love, trust, and putting others first is the only magic they need in life.
To celebrate the release of the new DVD, you and your little princess can watch the show and then enjoy these brand new Sofia the First Printables including coloring sheets, puzzles, games and more.
Included with this DVD are 3 additional episodes plus a free coloring-changing butterfly necklace. Disney also recently release several new Sofia the First activities inspired by the show. My daughter loves puzzles and really enjoyed putting together the Sofia the First Puzzle, perfect for preschool-aged children because of it’s larger size pieces. The puzzle showcases Sofia the First and her animal friends and comes packaged in a carrying case ideal for storing when not in use.
My preschool-aged daughter spends a lot of her time coloring and creating with stickers, markers, stamps, glue, and scissors. The Sofia the First Stationery Set from the Disney Store includes everything little girls will need to relive their favorite Sofia the First moments including stickers, washi tape, crayons and more. And if you’re looking for an easy project even young tots can participate in, the Sofia the First Decorate Your Own Mirror Set includes glitter paint and stickers to personalize this mirror just like Princess Sofia’s.
If you’re looking for additional Sofia the First-inspired books, toys, DVDs, and more, visit the designated page on The Disney Store’s website.
