Smooth Away

Posted by Caryn Bailey 1 Comment

When it comes to shaving, I would prefer to go au natural, except for the fact that I live in America…where hair is something that should not exist anywhere except on my head.  Oh…and my husband would never go for it.  I seriously do not like to shave.  I like smooth, hairless legs but shaving is time-consuming and my legs are never as smooth as the commercials promise they’ll be.  So I decided to take Fuel My Blog’s offer to try an alternative to shaving called Smooth Away.

Smooth Away is an easy, safe, and painless way to remove unwanted hair.  According to the site, Smooth Away is the fastest selling women’s product in Europe.  So of course I had to try it.  If I could throw away the razors, stop scheduling waxing appointments, and have smooth, hair-free legs then I was not going to pass the offer up.

So how does it work?  When you purchase the kit, you’ll receive 1 large and 1 small paddle, four micor-crystalline replacement pads for each one, and a carrying case.  The system uses friction to remove unwanted hair.  Simply attach the pads to the paddle (they’re adhesive) and then rub over your skin in small clockwise and counter-clockwise circles.  The friction actually rubs the hair away and you receive a mini-exfoliating session during the process.  Before you use Smooth Away, be sure to wash and dry your skin and remove cream, cosmetics and ointments.  This will ensure you’ll achieve the best results.

Smooth Away won’t nick or cut your skin and I didn’t get the typical razor burn that normally occurs the first day I shave.  It’s safe for men and women and sensitive areas like your face.  The system retails for $9.99 and if you’re looking for an alternative to shaving, waxing, or other painfully smelly hair removal options, you might consider trying it out.  Each pad will last long enough to remove hair from your legs twice.

Who can use it?  Anyone can use it unless you have a skin condition, open wounds, or diabetes.

Does it work?  To be honest, I was skeptical.  The hair on my legs is on the thicker side and I tried it for the first time when I hadn’t shaved in several days.  Don’t do that.  While it removed most of the hair, it took a long time.  I had to finish with a razor the first time I used it.  The package insert states that you’ll receive the best results when the hair is no longer than 1/4 inch long (apparently I don’t like to pay attention to instructions).  I tried it a few times after that initial time and it worked much better.  My only complaint with the system is that I feel like it takes a lot of time.  It doesn’t hurt and my legs really did feel smoother.

Along with the Smooth Away system, I received the Hair Inhibitor Moisturizer.  This moisturizer contains active ingredients like Telocapil which has been shown to reduce the amount of hair re-growth as well as the density and coarseness.  I haven’t been using the product that long, but according to the manufacturer, results can be seen in 61 days.  I’ve been using it on my legs and they definitely feel smoother.  Try to use it after you shower when your pores are open to achieve the best results.   The lotion has a mild floral scent (in my opinion but it’s supposed to smell like coconut) and once it’s rubbed in it doesn’t feel greasy or sticky.  The Hair Inhibitor Moisturizer retails for $7.99 and both products are available for purchase at CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, and Walmart.

well I am not pleased with it at all – I did follow the instructions to the letter and now my face is red and raw and stinging and I still have the darn peach fuzz! I will go back to shaving twice a week as I have for years – it worked great, was quick, did not make my skin raw and the hair has stayed blonde and fine. I’m glad it’s working great for a lot of people, just didn’t work for me. I don’t want the pads to just sit forever in a drawer or get thrown out and go to waste though so If anyone wants the pads I have not used let me know at [email protected] I have four each I will gladly mail you – my kit came with 5 each. First person to contact me with their mailing address gets them – I will reply to let you know they are coming your way. If you do not hear back then they are gone. Today is March 15th and I expect they will be gone in a very short time.
    Best wishes to all,
    Michelle in Indiana
