At the beginning of the year, I made a commitment to cook more meals in and eat less meals out. It’s way too easy to stop by one of our local restaurants to dine in or pick up something for dinner. Not only is eating out more expensive and typically higher in fat, calories, and sodium, it creates a different family dynamic surrounding meal time. There is something cohesive about sitting down as a family in our dining room for a home cooked meal.
My repertoire of recipes is expanding and I’ve boldly ventured to make vegan and/or allergy-free versions of traditional recipes to accommodate my son. I’ve accumulated a wide variety of cookbooks including allergy-friendly cookbooks, vegan cookbooks, gourmet cookbooks, and cookbooks for kids.
Tomorrow, October 24th, I will be kicking off a very special book tour with award-winning chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author Zov Karamardian. Earlier this year, she released her second cookbook entitled Simply Zov (ARV $39) which is a compilation of “easy-to-prepare recipes that explore novel takes on familiar dishes.” The book includes 150 recipes, many of which use ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen. The dishes are a collection of “rustic classics with a Mediterranean twist.” Chef Zov walks the reader through each recipe and after skimming through the book, I felt like I could tackle several of the dishes. The photography is stunning and compliments each recipe nicely.
Today, October 24th at 11 am PST, I’ll be hosting a Twitter Party to celebrate the release of the book. No RSVP is necessary. Simply tweet the the hashtag #simplyzov
