I am a shopper. I like to shop at large retail stores and local, independent boutiques. When I first started this site, I featured and supported a ton of small businesses. I believe there is value in shopping locally, which supports the economy and helps create jobs at the community level. I also think these retailers often offer one-of-a-kind, responsibly made products that can’t be found at mass retailers.
Two years ago, Small Business Saturday was started by American Express to support those local shops and boutiques. In the shadow of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the public is encouraged to show support by specifically shopping on the Saturday that follows Black Friday to preserve our communities.

How will you support your local retailer this year?
No compensation was received for this post. I support Small Business Saturday.
