Santa’s Secret Workshop Benefits L.A. Family Housing

Can you believe that we’re just 2 weeks away from Christmas?  Once we celebrated Thanksgiving, it felt like the first half of December flew by and I’m currently scrambling to find small windows of time where I can shop for my kids!  In the spirit of the holidays, the three of us spent the day crafting, gleaning gift ideas from the trendiest baby and kid brands, and celebrating the season, all in the name of giving back. This year, Bill Horn and Scout Masterson brought together celebrity families for their 3rd Annual Santa’s Secret Workshop which benefitted L.A. Family Housing.

Along with offering the kids a magical snow-filled backdrop for holiday photos with Santa, Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts set up DIY snow globe craft stations and Jenny’s Cookies inspired cookie decorating.

Joovy offered kids wheeled fun while Nail Garden provided mini manis.

Perhaps the most inspiring part of the day was seeing Santa’s sleigh filled with diapers and other essentials to benefit needy families this season.  While my heart always hurts when I am reminded of the poverty that faces us way too close to home, it’s during this season that I find myself wanting to do more to help those families in need.  L.A. Family Housing is the largest provider of affordable housing in the San Fernando Valley and provides temporary and permanent housing, along with supportive services (i.e. assistance with finding a job, medical and mental health services referrals, drug and alcohol counseling) to homeless and low income families and single adults. You can help by donating or volunteering your time.

It was wonderful and inspiring to see so many celebrities come out to show their support and for the first time this season, it truly felt like Christmas.
