My father and I used to frequent this neighborhood ice cream shop when I was growing up. The name long escapes me, but I remember those summer nights when we would cool off with old fashioned root beer floats. National Root Beer Float Day
The Root Beer Float, also known as the black cow, was originated by Frank J. Wisner, and the drink dates back to 1893. Made popular by A&W, the simple treat consists of vanilla ice cream and root beer, although variations can include chocolate ice cream or cola. National Root Beer Float Day is celebrated on August 6, 2018.
