Puddle Jumpers Help Young Swimmers Become Confident Swimmers *Giveaway*

Posted by Caryn Bailey 35 Comments

This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is JoAnne M. Congrats!

This is part of a compensated campaign with Stearns Puddle Jumpers Life Jackets.

I have two children who absolutely love the water, so much so that it’s become a routine that each of them “swim” as part of their daily bath time.  Every year, we spend quite a bit of time at our community pool and frequent our local water park to satisfy their need for splish splash fun.  What I find interesting though, is how their confidence wanes once they begin inching their way towards the pool.

Swimming

This is the year my kids are going to learn to swim. They both have a history of ear infections, but with custom-made ear plugs and summer swim lessons, I’m hoping to help build up their confidence levels so they know exactly what to do in most aquatic situations.

Knott's Soak City

Last week, we headed to Knott’s Soak City Water Park for opening weekend.  The weather was warm and beautiful, the perfect contrast to the cool, refreshing water slides, wave pools, and lazy rivers. Lifeguards abound and life jackets are all over the water park to ensure that families stay safe this summer. Since we were recently offered the opportunity to check out Stearns Puddle Jumper life jackets, I thought I’d bring ours with us to the water park.

Puddle Jumpers Life Jacket

One of the reasons I wanted to test out Puddle Jumpers life jackest was their reputation for being approved by the US Coast Guard as a learn-to-siwm aid. Each life jacket features fun characters and a patented design that enables children to move and swim freely without having the product ride up.  Many life jackets do this because they are designed to keep children afloat, but in the process end up irritating children’s faces.  While it initially seems counterintuitive, children place their arms through the jacket and it fastens in the back (my daughter continually tried to put it on backwards).  If you remember the character goes in the front,  you’lll ensure it’s on correctly.   Once she got accustomed to it, my daughter wore her Puddle Jumpers life jacket the entire time we were at the water park.  She was even able to practice kicking with daddy while on the lazy river.

One thing to note, as with any flotation device, be sure to use it with adult supervision. Although my daughter is young and likely couldn’t remove it herself, I know my older son would have it off in a few seconds.
