The way my son plays has obviously changed and evolved. He’s very much into pretend play and I often find him “talking” to and with his toys. One of our favorite places to learn and discover is Pretend City Children’s Museum in Irvine, CA.
Earlier this week, the museum opened two new exhibits…a dental office and a library. Children’s experience at The Pretend City Dental Office Exhibit will include giant interactive teeth to inspect and fix, a dental chair with scope to examine little and big mouths alike, and an X-ray machine to view teeth from the inside out. At the library, parents and children will find a collection of picture books, beginning readers, classic and contemporary children’s fiction and a broad non-fiction collection for general interest. Children can also become librarians where they sort and return books to the shelves, assist with providing recommendations for good reads, show others how to sign up for a library card, facilitate story times, and bind books that need a little mending.
As a parent, I appreciate the resources provided, particularly the developmental resources including tutorials on development and seminars focused on play and interaction.
If you’re local, or planning to visit Southern California, I highly recommend checking out Good To Go From Head To Toe on the museum’s website as it’s full of useful information.
No compensation was received for this post. The museum is phenomenal and is a valuable resource for families in the community.
