Pregnancy Update

Posted by Caryn Bailey 7 Comments

Whew…I’m 17 weeks and am so thankful to my Savior that the baby is healthy and I’ve had few complications so far.  It’s been a whirlwind.  Part of me wants the time to fly by so I can meet that little baby boy or girl growing inside me.  The other part of me yearns to slow down and enjoy each and every moment.  I’ve just started to feel the baby kick, which is really more like little taps.  They’re so infrequent now and I really only feel them when I’m sitting down.  Hubby tried to sit with me the other night to feel him/her after dinner but I honestly don’t think the movements are strong enough to be felt on the outside yet.

Apart from a few bouts of nausea in the last week, I’ve pretty much gotten past the morning all-day sickness.  But, I’ve been suffering from terrible migraines…one a week for the past several weeks.  I’ve always suffered  from the occasional migraine, but apparently pregnancy hormones can really intensify the headaches.  And, as you may know, I’m unable to take anything more than Tylenol so for 1 or 2 days I have to suffer through them in bed.  I’ve also started experiencing Braxton-Hicks the past week or so (probably from being on my feet a lot and the stress of life).  I’ve spoken to my doctor about it who is right on top of it.  He’s ready to start monitoring and intervening, should the need arise.  He had warned me that this may be a possibility.  I’m just hoping that I don’t end up on bedrest (for my toddler’s sake).

Thank you so much for your emails and kind words of support. My one hope is to be able to relax and enjoy this pregnancy because it quite possibly could be our last.  We’re still praying about the size of our family, but realistically two is a manageable number.

I have an ultrasound in 3 weeks and we’ll finally be able to see if the baby is a boy or a girl (so long as little miss or mr cooperate).  I can’t wait to share with you all.

I have terrible migraines with my pregnancy too, it’s to do with increased blood production and flow. Cold compresses on my head work for me better than Tylenol – for all the good Tylenol does I might as well eat M&Ms!

Hopefully this is just a short phase of this pregnancy. I hope you feel better soon. Make sure to stay well hydrated.

I’m glad you’ve been feeling better. Sorry about the headaches, though. I hope you and the little one stay healthy!

So excited for the ultrasound results! Are you going to “tweet” the big announcement?

P.S. My “guess” is that it’s a girl, but I know that either gender will be an incredible blessing to your family. Having two is so much fun!

Glad the baby is healthy so far, sorry about the Migraines… I just got over one after having one for 2 days, and I took everything I had under the sun, so I know how miserable YOU are. Funny how in my case during pregnancy was the only time I DIDN’T have migraines. It’s a good thing you have such a wonderful hubby who helps you out, that always helps.
I’ll be praying for you, because I REALLY understand!!
Can’t wait to hear more about the little one – I just LOVE babies…..

Glad to hear that the morning sickness has passed. Hopefully, so will the migraines.
