One of our family’s many traditions during this season is to spend some time enjoying all of the inspirational Holiday programming available on television. Last year we absolutely loved The Sound of Music Live! and given my affinity for Broadway musicals, I was really excited when I learned that NBC would be presenting Peter Pan Live this season in partnership with Walmart.
Peter Pan Live! is a new television production inspired by the 1954 musical adaptation of Peter Pan. Allison Williams stars as Peter Pan (the character has primarily been played by a girl ), Christopher Walken stars as Captain Hook, Christian Borle stars as Smee and George Darling, and Minnie Driver stars as the adult Wendy/Narrator in this enduring story about a boy who never wants to grow up. The Sound of Music Live! was watched by over 18 million people last year, so I imagine that this production is going to garner a lot of enthusiasm given how iconic Peter Pan is.
Because Peter Pan Live! is an adaptation, audiences can expect some changes including the addition of new songs with some lyrical adaptations by Amanda Green, daughter of the legendary lyricist and playwright Adolph Green.
We are planning to watch the Live TV Special this Thursday December 4th, at 8/7C on NBC. Since my kids LOVE movie night, we’re going to take our own spin on these Peter Pan Neverland Cookies, curl up on the couch with the fireplace, and watch the production together.
Walmart and NBC sent us some Peter Pan props to help inspire us for our themed movie night and my kids can’t wait to see the show.

Walmart will also be live tweeting during the broadcast and throughout the production, you’ll see custom vignettes featuring actress Melissa Joan Hart and her family as they share their Peter Pan moments with fans.
Before Peter Pan Live!, you can introduce your kids to the characters, adventures and songs from the Broadway classic by downloading the Peter Pan Live! Educational Study Guide. The activities include quizzes, song lyrics, talking points and more and can be enjoyed before, during or after your family watches the production
