It’s the week before Spring Break, and somehow in the midst of making plans to swim, explore, and pack for our camping trip, I completely overlooked the fact that my kids still don’t have Easter outfits. As a child, my parents bought me a new dress each Spring specifically for Easter. I have always loved dressing up and so many of my most cherished memories with my mom are of us shopping together. More importantly, picking out a new Easter outfit each year silently conveyed how important the holiday was to our family.
With just 4 days until Easter, I knew that I needed to shop at one location where I could pick out clothes, shoes, and accessories for my son and daughter. And if I could purchase their Easter baskets and everything to go inside at the same location, I could head into the Easter weekend completely stress-free.
One of my favorite shopping destinations is Kohl’s, specifically because I can shop for clothes, shoes, accessories, toys and home decor in one location! The Spring and Easter collections can be found throughout the store and at visible center displays, making it easy to shop if you’re pressed for time. More importantly the styles featured throughout the store are on-trend, like the Youngland Floral Dress my daughter picked out. The vibrant colors convey the sentiments that define Spring and the dress features an organza-like fabric underneath, perfect for more formal occasions like Easter Sunday.
My daughter paired the dress with a beautiful Rosette Fedora hat and Jeweled Flower Faux-Leather Flip-Flops. At 6, she already has a good understanding of style and I was quite impressed with her choice of Spring colors and styles for Easter.
Styling boys can be tricky, yet I was determined to give my son creative freedom to pick out an outfit that he would wear for Easter and beyond. It already feels like Summer is close here in Southern California, and since “dressing up” can vary across the spectrum, I let him pick out a pair of Tony Hawk Cargo Shorts. The fabric used in these shorts is durable and wrinkle-resistant, every parents’ dream. While these shorts are definitely ideal for dressing up, the style is versatile enough for my son to wear with a nice tee.
To compliment these Cargo Shorts, my son picked out an Urban Pipeline Houndstooth Button-Down Shirt and a pair of Converse All Star Street Sneakers in black. His overall look can best be described as preppy casual.
Confession: My kids have been questioning the existence of the Easter bunny, and since I really needed to shop for my kids’ Easter baskets, I decided that their inquiries gave me license to put these together with them. I have always gone with the traditional bamboo baskets, but after seeing the plush Easter baskets at Kohl’s, I decided to break tradition.
Each of my kids picked out their favorite Easter animal and we then proceeded to fill them with toys and candy. If you prefer a candy alternative approach, you’ll find an expansive selection of toys and books to complete your child’s basket. We decided Easter baskets should always include chocolate and Peeps, and filled them with bunny versions of our favorite treats.
Perhaps as impressive as the selection of Easter finds at Kohl’s is the amount of money I saved. A few weeks ago, I opened up a credit card and received a ton of extra savings which I was able to combine with current coupons. I saved $154.91 on this trip alone! If you have yet to sign up for Yes2You Rewards at Kohl’s, now is the time to do so since they are having some incredible sales on everything you need for Easter.
