As 2010 comes to a close, I sit here thinking about my goals for 2011. The typical ones come to mind…eat healthier, exercise more, lose weight, get and stay organized, manage time more efficiently… This next series of posts is all about starting a new year as a new you! And because I’m a bit of a health nut in general, I’m excited to share with you some new products from Barbara’s Bakery.
While I definitely don’t claim to be perfect, in general, we make it a point to avoid high fructose corn syrup, trans fats, hydrogenated oils, and artificial anything. Which is why I’m excited to tell you about Barbara’s Bakery and their stand against the “bad stuff.” The company makes wholesome, delicious food without artificial preservatives and ingredients, hydrogenated oils, and refined white sugar
The company is celebrating it’s 40th birthday by saying no to hydrogenated oils, artificial flavors, preservatives, additives, and high fructose corn syrup and saying yes to natural foods. If you give the “gift of no” to three of your Facebook friends, you’ll receive a coupon for a free box of Barbara’s cereal when you purchase a box of equal value. I’m not typically someone who uses a lot of Facebook apps, but the one on the company fan page is very educational. On it, you’ll find interesting tidbits like the fact that most Americans eat 23 teaspoons of sugar a day.
You’ll also notice that Barbara’s Bakery has a whole new look and a slew of new products. Their hope is that you’ll think twice before choosing the foods that your family will consume.
The company recently added a line of high fiber cereals which includes multigrains and antioxidants. I tried their cranberry variety which is a sweet blend of cranberries, whole grains, and pomegranate flavor. The cereal is so good, it’s hard to believe it’s sweetened naturally. While it’s considered a healthier, high fiber cereal, it’s full of flavor and crunch. If you’re looking for a kid-friendly cereal, I recommend their Cinnamon, Crunchy Cocoa or Peanut Butter Puffins. They’re crunchy, tasty, low in sugar and wheat-free.
My son’s favorite product was the Chocolate Chip Snackimals, which surprisingly, he was able to eat. They’re also offered in vanilla, snickerdoodle, and wheat-free oatmeal varieties. Be sure to check out the complete snack line for healthier choices you can feel good about munching on.

We love Barbara’s! The multi grain cereal bars are a staple in our family. My 1 1/2 year old is allergic to milk and eggs and these bars are dairy free. She has one as a snack almost every day! Love them!

Hi Jen!
We haven’t tried the multi-grain bars but because of my son’s allergies it’s hard to find packaged foods. We’ll have to check those out since we also have milk and egg allergies…

What a informative Post. Thanks for sharing. They really sound yummy, and yummy enough for all my nine grandchildren. Wish I had those before Christmas. ~hehe`

Absolutely! My son has food allergies so it’s nice that they offer something he can eat for breakfast and snacks
