Earlier this week, I was chatting with a fellow mom at my daughter’s preschool. We talked about our busy routines, the transition from preschool to elementary school, and our addiction to passion for gourmet coffee. Because I tend to be a “frou frou” coffee drinker, or like my husband says, a coffee snob, I can be choosy about my java.
Today, Top Chef host and Nespresso ambassador Padma Lakshmi celebrated the launch of the new U machine at The Grove in Los Angeles. My very first introduction to Nespresso was on a recent press trip with Sony to Montreal. When I saw this fancy machine in my room, I was intrigued.
That particular machine is the CitiZ which merges high tech and retro-modern designs.
But the machine Nespresso just released is their new U, which merges a modern design with sophisticated technology. This single serve espresso machine features one-touch technology and will memorize your preferred cup size. The machine is compact enough to store on your counter, and because of it’s sleek design, you’ll want to. You can also change the shape of the U to fit your space as the machine features magnetic surfaces on the front/sides. And one of the newest features of the machine is that the capsule will automatically be released by the machine after brewing. You can see a video demo of the machine on YouTube.
I typically drink my coffee with milk and a great addition to the machine is Nespresso’s Aeroccino Plus which offers the ability to prepare lattes and cappuccinos by frothing fresh milk.
While I enjoy fancy, gourmet coffee drinks, I prefer to drink a latte or cappuccino without any added sugar. Blends that are too strong or bitter are typically masked with syrups and sweeteners. I love the fact that I was able to prepare a latte with Nespresso’s new U machine and enjoy the smooth, rich taste of the coffee in it’s pure form. Rather than offering flavored coffees, Nespresso’s line includes 16 blends of espressos and lungos which vary in intensity. Each features a unique aromatic note such as honey, cocoa, or citrus.
Padma (because, of course we’re on a first name basis now right?) created this delicious Fall coffee drink using Nespresso’s Indriya blend and it’s rich, smooth, and mildly sweet. I love the combination of spices she used!
In the coming weeks, I’ll be telling you more about the machine. If you’re in LA, be sure to stop by the Nespresso Pop-Up Cafe at the Grove for coffee tastings and demos of the new U machine.
When: Thursday, October 11th from 10 am to 7 pm
Where: The Park at The Grove, 189 The Grove Drive, Los Angeles, CA
No compensation was received for this post. I was invited to a media event and will be receiving a machine to test out.
