National Train Day With Chuggington

Today is National Train Day and we’re celebrating in LA.  Founded three years ago by Amtrak to help raise awareness about the advantages of rail travel, the day is now celebrated at Amtrak stations and railroad museums across the country. If you’re in LA, head on down to Union Station from 11 am to 4 pm for the following free activities:

• State Partnership Display
• Amtrak High-Speed Rail Display
• K-9 Unit Demonstrations
• Amtrak: Dining the Rail Way
• Train Equipment Displays
• Model Train Displays
• Amtrak 40^th Anniversary Display
• AmtraKids Depot
• Live Entertainment

The highlight of the day will definitely be live entertainment from Radio Disney and The Never Land Pirate Band, arts and crafts, cookie decorating, and a day of fun creating party decorations.

This year commemorates Amtrak’s 40^th anniversary.  Earlier this month, Amtrak began touring the country with a special exhibit train. The train will stop at 40 cities this year and you can sign up on their website to be notified when they’ll be stopping in your city.

Children adore trains and this year, Chuggington will sponsor the Kids Depot.  At selected stops along the tour, their will be a dedicated kids’ activity area offering a host of traintastic fun including a play area for children to read books, watch Chuggington episodes and color a mural.
