Several months ago, I wrote an article about flu shots. I was pregnant at the time and very undecided, especially considering the fact that the H1N1 vaccine is brand new, and the disease is very much a threat. After much research and discussion with my Obstetrician at the time, I decided to get both the seasonal and H1N1 vaccinations. I spread the vaccinations out (it’s just an extra precaution I chose to take) and received the thimerosal-free version of both. Apart from the fact that my arm was a little sore, I had no adverse reactions. And our baby girl is very healthy.
This week (through January 16th) is National Influenza Vaccination Week (designated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CVS/pharmacy is urging Americans to protect their families by receiving the H1N1 vaccine. CVS/pharmacy has made this vaccine available in it’s stores and clinics across 34 states.
Recent stats have revealed that 47 million cases of H1N1 influenza have been identified with over 200,000 hospitalizations and 10,000 deaths. While children, young adults, and pregnant women are urged to get vaccinated, public health officials are encouraging everyone to get the vaccine.
Flu season is not over. Believe me. I know. I was sick for 3 days last week with a viral bug and it was not fun.
The H1N1 flu vaccine is available at CVS/pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations across the country for $15 (which is typically covered by insurance). For more information and availability, call 1-888-FLU-SHOT or visit their website.
I did not receive compensation for this post. I just feel very strongly about the topic and wanted to share the information with you, which was provided to me by the company.

I’m going on Saturday for both!
Great post, I’m a firm believer in everyone getting the flu shots also. I think an ounce of prevention is extremely important, the alternative is far worse!!
Thanks for the information.
