The LA Auto Show is in town this weekend (please don’t yawn yet!). I had never been to an auto show and really didn’t know quite what to expect. But in all honesty, it’s actually quite fascinating. Obviously there are a lot. of. cars. Shiny cars, green cars, teeny cars, massive cars, sporty cars and exotic cars (ooh….aaah!). The LA Auto Show is finishing up it’s final weekend and I can tell you that you could spend several days checking out all the cars. The best part is that you can touch them and even get inside (I’m all about the hands-on experience).
I wouldn’t typically think that an event such as an auto show is something you’d take the kids to. However, my son was in awe of all the shiny cars. I wish I had actually gotten a picture of him kissing this car (yes…he kissed the car and said “It’s BEAUTIFUL”).
What I’m supposed to tell you is that kids can’t typically handle an event like this…but my son really enjoyed it! Yes…he was running from car to car….yes…he was climbing all over the cars…and yes…they were ok with it! But if you have a child who doesn’t like kissing cars (ahem!), the auto show offers a Kids’ Fun Zone so that the entire family can attend the event.
The Kids’ Fun Zone is brand new this year and offers a variety of activities for kids under the age of 12. So while dad is checking out the exotics, mom can bring the kids down to the Fun Zone to get some energy out. Attractions include bounce houses, a kids’ Jeep driving course, face-painting, Xbox driving simulators, bubble-making, arts and crafts, and games. My son took particular interest in the fruit and veggie game offered by First 5 California. The Kids’ Fun Zone is free and includes a variety of activities for children in all age groups. But please note that at least one parent must remain with the child at all times.
The LA Auto Show runs through the 13th at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Tickets are $12 and kids under the age of 12 are free. If you purchase tickets online, you’ll save $2 (and I’m all about saving money!).

We love going to the car shows! It’s been awhile, though! That is so cute that your son kissed the car! It’s nice that they had a kids area.

Too bad you get the picture snapped in time with his actual lips on the car, but I like his arms out stretched on the red “It’s BEAUTIFUL” car.
I think if they start loving vehicles/cars that much when they’re young, it’s pretty much a life long obsession. Poor Rockinmama, let him stay little as long as possible, because he’ll be gone cruisin when he’s got that license and tires to burn.

Sorry, my classic brain glitch. I meant to type in my post above –
Too bad you didn’t get….
I left out the didn’t.
Stupid, stupid, brain of mine.

The Hubs and I just LOVE car shows!! Especiall exotic and sports cars. I bet we would have really enjoyed this.
I think it is terrific that they provide all those activities for the kids for free. You all look like you had a lot of fun… love the “kiss” photograph; and you still look fantastic, being that much pregnant! 🙂
