Modern Baby Product Guide: Playtime With Infantino

Posted by Caryn Bailey 2 Comments

True mom confession:  My children don’t spend nearly enough time on the floor as babies.  I worry about germs, safety, and comfort.  My son had an activity gym we picked up at a Consignment Sale that didn’t hold up long enough for my daughter to use.  It wasn’t until she started rolling over that I realized I probably needed to get a Playmat that would be appropriate for laminate floors.  And then an opportunity with Mom Central and Infantino presented itself.  I’m so honored to be an Infantino Test Drive Mom!  With any “test drive” program, I’ll be bringing you the latest on brand-new, newly released, and soon-to-be released baby products throughout the next several months.  If you’re pregnant, thinking about having a baby, or a mom with a baby, stay tuned!

Even as an infant, my daughter loves to play.  She’s fascinated by colors and shapes and enjoys music. I am a huge proponent of educational, stimulating, developmentally-appropriate toys, and our home is no stranger to Infantino.  I like their simple motto of “keeping it simple.”  They simply create products that “promote fun and discovery” without sacrificing style and comfort.

In order for babies to learn to roll-over, crawl, and eventually walk, they need floor time. I’m amazed that those milestones haven’t been delayed, particularly with how little floor time I gave my son as a baby.  A playmat can provide a safe, interesting, stimulating space for babies.

Infantino will soon release their new Jumbo Wheel Play Space.  At 47 inches round, I don’t have to worry about my daughter rolling off of it (at least not yet anyway).  It’s well-padded (which was really important to me), colorful, and engaging.  My daughter, at 6 months of age, can press the flower to play music (I tried to capture it on video, but of course, she wouldn’t perform for me) and particularly enjoys the “crunchy” textures on the animal’s ears.  My daughter giggles every time she sees her face in the mirror (I’m certain she doesn’t recognize herself) and enjoys chewing on the toys attached to the mat.  I’ve already washed it (although I’m not certain as to what the recommendations are) and it held up really well.  The Jumbo Wheel Play Space will be making it’s debut shortly and will sell for $29.99.

While the Jumbo Wheel Play Space encourages babies to get rolling, scooting, crawling, and moving, the new Twist & Fold Activity Gym will have them looking up.  I actually like this for very young infants, and the Jumbo Wheel Play Space for infants a bit older (although you can use both of these from birth).  While the two products seem similar, they’re really quite different (although I definitely think you could purchase one or the other for floor time).  The Activity Gym is colorful and engaging and includes several hanging toys (which my daughter likes to bat and grasp).  I don’t find that it’s as well-padded as the Jumbo Wheel Play Space, but would be suitable for carpeted floors.  I like the circular design (as opposed to many activity gyms that feature a square design) and the soft border that surrounds it.  It too has a mirror and a chirping toy (both of which my daughter really enjoys).  What’s unique about this activity gym is the soft bolster it comes with for tummy time.  It’s perfect for babies who need some support.  The most user-friendly part of the activity gym is it’s twist and fold design, which makes it easy to store.  The Twist & Fold Activity Gym retails for $39.99 and their new design will be in stores soon.

Floor and tummy time has never been more fun with Infantino’s playmats and activity gyms.  I like their new designs which feature adorable animals and bold gender-neutral colors.  Their products are competitively priced and designed with a mind towards infant development and convenience for moms.

I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for Infantino and have received various Infantino products to as part of my participation
