As a young girl living in Los Angeles, eating out was a very special treat. My parents believed in cooking most of our meals at home, so those Saturday mornings when we made a morning visit to our local Mimi’s Cafe were that much more memorable. I likely gleaned my foodie habits from my parents, and my philosophy has always been that dining out should be an experience with foods that engage the senses and delight the palate.

Mimi’s Cafe
Mimi’s Cafe was founded in 1978 as a neighborhood bistro offering fresh, hand-prepared American-French comfort food and bistro classics. Now under new ownership, the restaurant is known for their French bistro classics and American comfort food, while upholding their commitment to sourcing the freshest ingredients.
One of the food trends I’ve noticed is that restaurants tend to excel at only one particular meal. For example, while breakfast at Mimi’s Cafe was always excellent, I rarely considered the French-inspired bistro for lunch or dinner. I appreciate how Mimi’s Cafe still utilizes authentic French cooking techniques and the restaurant’s own twists on classic dishes. With a new lunch menu featuring some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes, the cafe has become a favorite of mine for mid-day meals.
Mimi’s Cafe Lunch Menu
The new lunch menu at Mimi’s Cafe allows families the choice of a soup or salad and one of 5 entrees for just $10.99. Dessert can be added for an additional fee. The menu is available Monday through Friday from 11 am to 4 pm.

Mimi’s Cafe Spring Menu
In addition to the new lunch menu, Mimi’s has expanded their selection of shareable items including their new Hummus and Crudités which includes fresh seasonal vegetables served with garlic roasted hummus, ranch, and crostinis. The Spring Menu was designed to give families a “taste” of France incorporating fresh, delicious French flavors. Here is a look at the new French-inspired entrées, including sandwiches, quinoa salads, and pastas:
- Grilled Chicken Pesto Baguette, grilled chicken, mozzarella cheese, mixed greens, tomato and pesto mayonnaise drizzled with balsamic dressing on a toasted baguette.
- Smoked Salmon Baguette, smoked salmon, mixed greens, cucumbers, red onion and dill cream cheese on a toasted baguette.
- Parisian Ham Baguette, thinly-sliced smoked ham, brie cheese, mixed greens and fig mustard on a toasted baguette.
- Turkey Hummus Sandwich, slow-roasted turkey, hummus, baby spinach, tomato, cucumbers, crumbled feta cheese and balsamic dressing on toasted whole wheat bread.
- Croque Monsieur, thinly-sliced smoked ham and swiss cheese served warm on toasted sourdough topped with mornay sauce and melted parmesan cheese.
- Chicken & Quinoa Mediterranean Salad, pulled roasted chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, artichoke hearts, onions, olives and quinoa on romaine lettuce and kale tossed in red wine shallot vinaigrette.
- Berry Spinach & Shrimp Quinoa Salad, two skewers of grilled shrimp, fresh strawberries, blueberries, crumbled feta cheese and quinoa on baby spinach tossed in fat-free raspberry vinaigrette.
- Creamy Chicken & Mushroom Pasta, grilled chicken and mushrooms with linguine pasta tossed in a creamy mustard sauce.
- Crème Caramel, a rich and silky custard topped with caramel sauce.
- Classique Cheesecake, velvety cheesecake with a graham cracker crumb crust. Served with strawberry purée and a fresh strawberry.
- Triple Berry Crumble, warm berry crumb cake topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
