Maybelline’s Dream Fresh BB is a “Dream” For Skin!

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

While I’m not one to succumb to fads, particularly when it comes to my skin, I do enjoy trying new products backed by demonstrated results. One of the latest beauty trends is the debut of Beauty Balms. What I find interesting about this particular skin care product/makeup is the fact that the concept was actually developed over 50 years ago by a German physician who aspired to create a product that protected skin while providing coverage similar to a makeup or foundation post-surgery.  In the 80’s, beauty balms were introduced in Asia and are currently a hot beauty trend.  Alas, the Western World has finally adopted the trend because in fact, the product is different than any out on the market.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB

Maybelline recently introduced Dream Fresh BB (Beauty Balm), an an 8-in-1  Skin Perfector which provides lightweight coverage and protection from the sun. Available in 5 tints, Dream Fresh BB was designed to act as a 1-step beauty regime.  Here are some of the ways the product benefits your skin:

  • Blurs imperfections
  • Brightens
  • Evens skin tone
  • Smoothes
  • Hydrates
  • Enhances
  • Protects with SPF 30

One of the major differences between a beauty balm and a makeup/foundation/tinted moisturizer is the fact that they are oil-free and 70% water-based.  For someone like me, with combination skin, this is a product that I don’t expect will clog my pores or contribute to breakouts.

I actually prefer a lighter coverage because I tend to be prone to breakouts, even at my age.  In the past, I’ve used tinted moisturizers most days and reserved makeup/foundation for evenings out. What I like about Dream Fresh BB is the fact that it’s actually working to improve the look and feel of my skin while I’m wearing it out. The coverage is just what I need for days out with my kids, and given the fact that we live in a climate that enjoys a lot of sunshine, the addition of an SPF of 30 helps eliminate that step from my regime, thereby saving me a bit of time. I found that my skin absorbed the product nicely without leaving any residue, and in reality I didn’t really notice that I had anything on after I applied it.  If you need a bit more coverage, you could set a mineral powder over the beauty balm which is what I’ve been doing in place of foundation when I plan to go out.

As a busy mom, I am all about products that serve multiple purposes which is why I’m so excited about these new beauty balms. As I mentioned above, Maybelline offers Dream Fresh BB in 5 tints. My skin color didn’t exactly match one of those 5 tints so I blended 2 together to get my perfect match.

Dream Fresh BB is now available at Walmart stores in the beauty section at a fantastic price. Typically, these beauty balms can be quite pricey, but for $7.44 the product us definitely worth trying out.

Have you tried a beauty balm? I’d love to hear about your experiences.

I participate in the Walmart Moms program and am compensated for my time and honest opinions.
