Leggo My Eggo!

Posted by Caryn Bailey 2 Comments

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day.  When my husband and I were dating…we would often have breakfast for dinner.  That’s how much I love breakfast!  One of the things my husband and I love to do is cook breakfast together.  But with a toddler running around, it’s not as easy to spend a lot of time making waffles, pancakes, and muffins from scratch.

651I have been eating Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Low Fat Whole Wheat Waffles forever, it seems, because they’re quick and easy to fix and a healthier version of my favorite breakfast treat!  They taste great but there are times when I want to indulge a little.  There are times when I want dessert for breakfast…something sweet and fruity and flaky! I recently tried Kellogg’s new Eggo Bake Shop Twists in both strawberry and apple (which just happen to be favorite fruits to compliment any breakfast). It’s funny because when I sent my husband to the store to pick these up, he had no idea what he was supposed to get.  But he called me and asked if he could use the coupons for these because they looked good to him!  Here is a little more information about Eggo Bake Shop Twists from the site:

Eggo has introduced Eggo Bake Shop Twists, it’s first microwaveable pastry that combines soft, pull-apart dough sprinkled with sugar crystals and delicious Strawberry or Apple filling made with real fruit.

First off, these are super quick and easy to make.  Just pop them in the microwave for 25 seconds, then let them cool for 2 minutes (this is to prevent burning yourself with hot, fruity filling!).  They’re super soft and moist and both flavors are yummy.  They’re sweet…but that’s to be expected and I wasn’t overwhelmed.  I do like the strawberry the best, but that’s just because it’s my favorite fruit.  I think I could eat just about anything with strawberries.

These are great for those times when you want to indulge a bit.  They don’t contain any trans fats but they do contain high fructose corn syrup, wheat, eggs, and milk for those of you with dietary restrictions.  One pastry contains 180 calories and 7 grams of fat which makes it 4 points according to Weight Watchers.  You can find Kellogg’s new Eggo Bake Shop Twists in the freezer section of your local grocery store.

Okay…Time to wipe the drool off my keyboard! My husband got some Eggos for his work breakfast that were shaped like cinnamon rolls and stuffed with frosting and gooey cinnamon stuff. And, of course he didn’t share, the jerk! 😉

I’m like you, sometimes wanting something sweet for breakfast. I really like the Eggo Bake Shop Twists to have on hand when the mood strikes. I like the Strawberry best, but the apple is really good too. If you can find a coupon for these, it would well be worth trying them. I’m sure all the viewers of Rockin Mama would enjoy them.
