Get Early Access To Walmart’s Free Layaway Program

Every year, my children’s Christmas wish lists get longer and more expensive.  We’re completely immersed in the world of Disney Infinity, and recently my son put in a request for the character figurines and power discs he needs to complete his collection.  I’m an early shopper which means that the cost of achieving this won’t hit us all in one month and we’ll likely have a wide variety of items to choose from.  While holiday shopping may not be at the forefront of your mind right now as we immerse ourselves in the new school year, Christmas is really only 3-ish months away so it makes sense to start thinking about it.

Layaway at Walmart

Once again, layaway is back at Walmart, and this year, you’ll receive even earlier access on September 11th and 12th. If you have a lot of items to purchase or gift recipients with expensive items on their wish list, Layaway is a great way to avoid spending all of that money at once, right before Christmas.

Technically, Layaway will run from September 13th through December 13th, 2013 at Walmart.  Customers will appreciate the fact that this year, there are no opening fees (yay!) or gift card reimbursements.  Once you’ve selected the items you would like to put on Layaway, simply complete the down payment (which is $10 or 10% of the item’s purchase price), and be sure to pay for the item in full at any cash register before the end of the 90 day period.  Layaway is available at the Walmart.com Services Desk in your local store.

There are 35,500 items available for Layaway including electronics (and some automotive electronics), toys (including some infant toys), jewelry, small appliances and sporting goods.  I imagine popular items will include tablets, smartphones, video game consoles, and smart TVs.

I personally find Layaway to be brilliant because very often, popular toys will disappear from shelves as we get closer to Christmas.  This is a great way to ensure your children will get their top toy picks including Furby Boom, Big Hugs Elmo, Zoomer the robotic dog, and the Barbie Dream House.

If you have reservations about shopping this early, Walmart’s Ad Match Guarantee ensures that you’ll still receive the best price.  If you see an item advertised at a lower price on a competitor’s printed ad, simply visit the Walmart.com Services Desk and Walmart will match that price.

For early access to Layaway, simply visit Walmart’s Facebook page before September 11th, 2013 to claim your offer. It takes just a couple of minutes and a simple click of a button.
