Kellogg’s Goes Retro!

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

This is part of a compensated campaign with Kellogg’s.

Kellogg's Vintage-Inspired Packaging

Have you heard?  For a limited time, Kellogg’s is stepping back in time to help families reflect on their favorite childhood memories in the kitchen.  Late last month, the brand launched their retro-inspired packages of Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Cocoa Krispies, and Froot Loops at Target stores nationwide.  The boxes feature vintage images of your favorite characters including Tony the Tiger, Snap! Krackle! and Pop, and Toucan Sam.

Each of the limited edition boxes will include information to receive $5 off any merchandise from Kellogg’s online store.  Simply redeem 2 proof of purchase codes online to receive the $5 off promotion.  Their store is currently offering four specially designed vintage graphic tees featuring your favorite Kellogg’s characters, gifts, collectibles, and more.

To celebrate the launch of these new retro-inspired boxes, I thought I’d leave you with some fun facts about the four cereals I personally grew up with.

Snap!, Crackle!, and Pop! appeared in a short 2-minute cartoon called Breakfast Pals.  In the short film, the characters were seen battling rivals Soggy, Mushy, and Toughy for control of a child’s breakfast bowl!

Tony the Tiger first appeared when Frosted Flakes launched in 1952.  This mascot was selected from a group that included Katy the Kangaroo, Elmo the Elephant, and Newt the Gnu. Who knew?

Froot Loops launched in 1962 with it’s signature spokes-bird Toucan Sam and his famous line is still quoted today, “Follow your nose it always knows!”

While Snap!, Krackle! and Pop! served as the mascot for Cocoa Krispies, you might also remember Tusk! Tusk! the Elephant and Coco the Monkey!

To purchase these limited edition retro-inspired boxes, visit your local Target store.
