Having documented our family stories since my son was just a few months old, he’s naturally quite inquisitive about what it is I really do. His basic understanding is that I write and take photos, often the result of some incredible family adventures. Recently, he’s taken a pretty serious interest in the videos I shoot, wanting to be involved and even requesting to create his very own videos.
When Relativity Media asked if we wanted to participate in a junior reporter opportunity for their latest family film Earth to Echo, I shared this with him to see where his interest level was at. While still a bit young, he decided he wanted to see what mommy does when she covers film junkets, so we agreed and headed out to LA to screen the film and then prep for our interview with Teo Halm (Alex), Brian “Astro” Bradley (Tuck), Reese Hartwig (Munch), and Ella Linnea Wahlestedt (Emma), who play the kids in the film.
You may remember my first look at Earth to Echo, where I shared the filmmakers’ passion and inspiration for the upcoming movie. Filled with adventure, the film follows Alex, Tuck, and Munch on an incredible journey to discover what is behind a series of “out-of-this-world” transmissions that have taken over their phones. What they discover is so much bigger than what they anticipated, and through their journey to get “Echo” home, they strengthen their bond and learn that even kids can accomplish big things.
We prepped a series of questions for the talent and my son was paired with Yolanda’s daughter for their group interview. Given that it was my son’s very first interview, Sofia asked most of the questions. But, my son had a burning question about why the group of friends initially thought Echo was something other than an alien. Check out the interview below from our junior reporters!
Earth to Echo opens in theaters July 2nd, 2014. Connect with the film by following on Earth To Echo’s respective social channels:
