Johnson’s Is Going Green

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Companies are beginning to recognize the importance of providing consumers with greener, cleaner, more natural products.  I’m particularly concerned with the products used by and consumed by my children.  Their growing bodies should be exposed to as few toxins as possible, to ensure they get the best chance at a healthy physical and psychological development.

Johnson’s, a brand that has produced baby care products for over 100 years, recently introduced their new Natural product line.  The entire line is free from parabens, phthalates, dyes, essential oil, petrolatum, or animal byproducts and includes 98% naturally derived ingredients.  The company states that it meets or exceeds the guidelines set forth by the Natural Products Association while still maintaining it’s reputation as a “no more tears” line of baby care products.

The new Natural line includes Baby Lotion, Foaming Baby Wash, Baby Shampoo, Kids 3-in-1 Shampoo, Conditioner, & Body Wash and Kids 2-in-1 Hand and Face Foaming Wash.  I have always liked the smell of Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and while these products resemble the scent, they’re different.  My children don’t have particularly sensitive skin so I wasn’t too concerned about using the line on them.  I gave my daughter a bath with the Baby Shampoo and it was mild and gentle enough on her skin to cleanse and hydrate without causing irritation or redness.

I appreciate the fact that the company completely discloses their ingredients, and includes information about where each ingredient comes from and what it’s used for. I’m honestly not an expertise when it comes to the scientific makeup of the products.  I attempted to search for the line on Skin Deep but it’s too new and there is no information at present.

The company has begun to demonstrate their commitment to the environment by using 60% post-consumer recycled packaging.  For more information on their efforts, just visit their website.

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by  Mom Central on behalf of Johnson’s and received the products necessary to  facilitate my review. In addition, I received a gift certificate to thank me  for taking the time to participate.
