{Consideration provided by Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern}
The best biscuits in Orange County have to be at Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern. When our host brought out these buttery pillows of dough, I almost canceled my brunch order so I could eat my weight in biscuits. But their brunch menu is so diverse and compelling that I decided I just need to go back regularly to get my biscuit fix.
Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern, located in Southern California, takes a creative approach to regional American classics. Their menu features popular regional dishes from across the country with an Artisanal twist. Their dishes are hand-crafted and prepared fresh in small batches using quality ingredients. Their creative reinterpretations of your favorite childhood meals include Southern Fried Chicken, Bourbon-Chipotle BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Prince Edward Island Mussels, New England Style Clam Chowder and much more.

Brunch at Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern was absolutely delightful and offered a unique immersion in breakfast and lunch dishes. Their signature brunch dishes include Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Malted Ale Waffles, The Bubba (a biscuit filled with fried chicken, cheddar, bacon, sausage gravy, and a sunny-side egg), and the Pulled Pork Benedict. I am a vegetarian, so I opted for the Veggie Bennie, the Signature Grilled Santa Fe Caesar Salad, Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Malted Ale Waffles (which I split with my mom who loves chicken), and their Housemade Buttermilk Biscuits (a MUST!).

Their brunch menu offers the best of breakfast with comfort food favorites like Eggs Benedict, a Denver Scramble, and Applewood Smoked Bacon. If you happen to prefer lunch dishes (or are dining with someone who does), their brunch menu offers an expansive selection of dishes including the Jimmy Burger (Applewood Smoked Bacon, Jalapeno Jam, Southern Pimento Cheese), Maine Lobster & Shrimp Club (Avocado, Bacon, Tomato, Lettuce, Toasted Brioche), Grilled Apricot-Chile Glazed Salmon Salad (Spinach, Corn, Boiled Egg, Tomatoes, Garbanzo Beans, Crispy Onions, Bacon) and more.
Arrive hungry. There are so many delightful dishes at Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern that you’ll want to try a few during your visit. I also recommend dining with a friend (or 3!). I always enjoy splitting a few items with friends in order to try several sweet and savory dishes. My mom and I started with their Housemade Buttermilk Biscuits and the Signature Grilled Santa Fe Caesar Salad. Their biscuits are served with butter and honey or sausage gravy and literally melt in your mouth. If you are a vegetarian, you can ask for their meatless gravy which pairs nicely with these biscuits.
Their Signature Grilled Santa Fe Caesar Salad is gluten-free and includes romaine, corn, salsa fresca, avocado, and green chile dressing. It is light enough to start with and features a delightful mix of savory flavors.
The Veggie Bennie and Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Malted Ale Waffles were the perfect savory/sweet dishes to pair for brunch. The Veggie Bennie includes 2 English muffins, spinach, grilled tomatoes, poached eggs, and a chive Hollandaise sauce. This vegetarian twist on the classic dish is hearty and flavorful and still features the best of eggs benedict…perfectly poached eggs and a delightful Hollandaise sauce.
If you’ve yet to experience the latest Chicken and Waffles trend, order this dish at Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern. Their dish features thyme gravy, Applewood-smoked bacon, and maple syrup. While I do not eat meat, I still found the waffle to be rich, flavorful and delicious.

Early Bird Happy Hour at Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern
Jimmy’s Famous American Tavern recently introduced their Early Bird Happy Hour for brunch, which includes their #1 selling Famous Mary, Champagne, and Mimosas for $7 until noon during Sunday Brunch.
