It’s Not Juice…It’s Froose!

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

Do you give your children juice?  A better question is should you give your children juice?  After reading this article from the American Academy of Pediatrics, perhaps you’ll gain some insight that will help you decide what’s right for your child.  I agree with the AAP that 100% fruit juice can be a healthy part of a child’s diet when consumed in appropriate amounts (the recommendation is 4-6 ounces per day for children 1-6 years of age and 8-12 ounces per day for children 7-18 years of age).
Most juices and juice drinks on the market contain high fructose corn syrup which has been linked to obesity and diabetes.  If you are giving your child 100% fruit juice, did you know that most are still loaded with sugar and devoid of any fiber?  Drinking juice is simply the consumption of empty calories and offers no nutrition when compared to consuming it’s counterpart…fruit!  Ideally, all of our children would consume the recommended daily allowance of fruit.  However…children like juice!
Frustrated with the lack of healthy beverages (particularly juice) for children and her son’s weight gain and eating habits, Denise Devine developed Froose.  Froose is a whole food beverage made from organic whole grains and fruit.  It is a healthy alternative to the juices and juice drinks on the market.  And it tastes great too!
Sample - Variety Pack Froose
Froose is naturally low in sugar (it’s cut down by at least 1/2 when I researched some of the other 100% juices out there on the market) and contains as much fiber (3 g to be exact!) as a piece of fruit.  It is sweetened with brown rice syrup (a natural sweetener with a low glycemic index) and contains complex carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.  Froose is gluten-free, Kosher, and pasteurized.  While it is not “organic” per se, it is made with organic ingredients.
Froose comes in 3 yummy flavors:  Cheerful Cherry, Playful Peach, and Perfect Pear.  We tried all 3 and they all taste great!  They are sweet enough (but not too sweet) and your kids won’t know they are consuming whole grains unless you tell them.  While it isn’t necessary to refrigerate Froose, I recommend it!  The boxes are fun and kid-friendly and only contain a little over 4 ounces (the AAP’s recommendation for children 1-6 years of age).
Froose is only available at this time on their website (I’m sure it will be sold at my favorite market in no time).  A sample pack containing 4 of each flavor retails for $9.00 and you can get free shipping when you enter the following code:  sample.
If you’d like more information about Froose, head on over to their site!
