We’re in the midst of Cyber Week, and after perusing the internet, it’s obvious that tech is setting trends this year as a gift giving option. I considered myself to be moderately tech-savvy…until I visited the Intel Pop Up Store in LA earlier this week. As part of a Cyber Monday promotion, I spent a few hours in the store, checking out their devices, gleaning some tips from one of Intel’s TechXperts, and finding out what is hot and popular this year for holiday gift ideas.
Designed to immerse the community in the tech experience, Intel’s pop-up stores change 3 times throughout the day, to showcase the brand’s innovation. There are three stores located in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and each will be open through the holiday season to provide the community with a unique, hands-on tech experience. In the morning, drop by for free coffee and you’ll find a small selection of devices and a cozy, community feel. In the afternoon, the store transforms into a technology showcase where guests can test out devices or get their tech questions answered. In the evenings, these pop-up stores are the entertainment spot in the community, offering sports, movies, guest speakers, and live performances.
Perhaps one of the most unique happenings at the Intel LA pop-up store is the repurposing of old electronics. Through the Tech Disruptors Program, local technology makers can be seen in-store showcasing their inventions while giving back to the community. And, guests can drop off their old, used electronics as part of their Reuse Program, where Intel will donate $5 for each device to a local community school. –
For guests interested in checking out a device, Intel offers a 24 hour loaner program without any obligation to purchase the item. However, if you see a device you like in-store, Intel has partnered with Best Buy to offer guests the option of purchasing at the Intel Experience store.
Each of the three location-based pop-up stores will have their own unique schedule, but in general here is how the week runs:
Monday: His & Hers with sports, massages, etc.
Tuesday: Game Night
Wednesday: Wild Card (speakers, demos, workshops)
Thursday: Speaker Series
Friday: Movie Night
Saturday: Family Fun in the afternoon, Live music in the evenings
Sunday: Sports
So, what’s trending this year in tech? You’ll have to watch my short video to find out!
Later this week, Intel will be sharing some exciting plans for this coming Saturday so be sure to follow on Twitter/Facebook/Tumblr for the latest. To find an Intel Pop-Up Store near you, visit Intel.com/Stores.
