This giveaway is now closed. Thanks for stopping by. The winner is Lentil. Congratulations!
I remember when girl’s night out was a regular occurrence. In my college and young adult days, we’d go to the movies, enjoy tea, take short trips… These days, my time is not my own. And while I absolutely adore the time I get to spend with my children, and miss my son terribly when he’s in preschool, it’s nice to have the occasional night out to myself.
This spring, the Geffen Playhouse will debut In Mother Words, a show that tackles motherhood in an “eye-opening, hilarious and irresistible night of theater.” More than a dozen of today’s best playwrights will come together to share their personal stories, including the joys and absurdities of motherhood. As the site states, “whether you are a parent, have a parent or ever want to become a parent, this production will elate and terrify equally — much like motherhood itself.”
Despite graduating from UCLA’s graduate nursing program, I’ve never attended a production at the Geffen Playhouse. I’m excited to attend the show, which will debut at the venue on February 15th and run through May 1st. The Geffen Playhouse is a non-profit organization and has six major education initiatives that engage over 18,000 students and community members in the arts every year. In Mother Words, like all of the programs at the venue, will benefit a number of community outreach programs.
Win It! One of you will win a pair of tickets to the 3 pm performance of In Mother Words. You will also be invited to attend the reception which will include food, drinks, and other goodies. Honestly, I find motherhood challenging, or maybe it’s just the balancing act. But I love being a mother, and I am over the moon in love with my daughter. I think my happiest moments are when my daughter is happy — when she just glows with joy. Usually it’s when something has set her off with laughter, ( a frequent occurrence!) But it’s also when she has connected with another child. I love her joy when she recognizes that another child wants to play.
