My bags are packed, my flight is booked, and I’ve finally received my official acceptance letter to Monsters University!
Freshman orientation begins in less than one week, and I anticipate a scary good time.
It’s been a number of years since I’ve been “schooled” so I’m a little bit nervous, considering our class schedule is quite packed!
I’m sure you’re wondering what I’ll be learning. My degree is in Nursing, but we all know that isn’t my TRUE calling. It’s scaring! Since the prestigious university has an entire school dedicated to developing the most elite scarers in the world, I knew I had to enroll. I know the curriculum will be intense, so I’ve made all the necessary preparations, including a quick mental breakdown of all I need to learn in those 3 short days.
Here is all that I’ll need to grasp in order to graduate and succeed:
-
ENGLISH 101: How to Tell a Great Story
-
SOCIOLOGY 203: The Deconstruction of a Character
-
ANTHROPOLOGY 152: Monsterizing the World
-
DRAMATIC ARTS: Bringing a Character to Life
-
PHYSICS 250: Global Illumination
Since the School of Scaring is located at Pixar Animation Studios, I’ll be flying to San Francisco. After all, if I’m ever going to be the best scarer I can be, I have to learn from the best.
Monsters University is Disney/Pixar’s prequel to the well-known and well-loved film Monsters, Inc. Mike Wazoski has dreamed of becoming a Scarer, but even he knows that the best Scarers come from Monsters University. When his paths cross with natural-born Scarer James P. Sullivan, they will have to learn to work together to succeed.
In addition to getting briefed on the film, my fellow classmates and I will be screening The Blue Umbrella, Disney/Pixar’s latest short that will debut in front of Monsters University on June 21st, 2013. I love the description of this short: “Amidst the rain in a singing city, two umbrellas—one blue, one not—fall eternally in love.”
Every Freshman orientation includes a campus tour, so we’ll be spending some time exploring Pixar Animation Studios.
And in order to be sure we are well-rounded students, we’ll also be touring the Walt Disney Family Museum.
While scaring is serious business, I suspect that there might be some time for fun. I hear Monsters University has some great sororities, so I’m going to read up on them before heading back to school next week.
