It was cold and rainy here in Southern California earlier this week, and today it’s nearing 80 degrees. Our variable weather isn’t uncommon during this time of year when we’re transitioning from Winter to Spring, but it often makes for interesting adjustments in my day-to-day wardrobe.
For the past several months, I’ve been living in boots and scarves, two of my favorite Fall and Winter Fashion staples. But I realized this week that those wardrobe accents are going to have to be replaced to stay on-trend with Summer-like temperatures. I live in jeans year-round, so I thought I’d put together a dressier look that can be used for a simple, casual backyard get-together or a more elegant outdoor wedding.
My local Walmart’s apparel section exudes the colors and styles of Spring including peasant tunics, woven kimonos, shirt dresses, maxi skirts, jumpsuits and boyfriend jeans. For this look, I started with a belted lace maxi skirt from No Boundaries. Priced at just $12.88 and available in 6 different colors, it can be dressed up with a button down blouse and wedges or paired with a tank top and sandals for a more casual look. The skirt features a modest side slit, woven lace and a woven tassel belt. I really like how feminine this skirt is and how well it flatters in the right places.
Some of my favorite tanks were picked up at Walmart for under $10 and I like to keep an expansive selection of styles and colors on-hand to pair with skirts, jeans and dress pants. Layer it for days when it’s cold or for more professional events.
Accessories can be used creatively to dress up and personalize your look. Walmart has a diverse selection of statement necklaces paired with matching earrings for just $5. I picked up this Layered Illusion Necklace and Earring Set which complimented the Pomegranate tank nicely. The shell beads give the necklace an upscale look, dressing up the entire outfit.
To complete my look, I picked up a pair of Shar Sandals in Nude from Faded Glory. Stylish and casual, these sandals are idea for pairing with dresses, skirts, shorts or jeans.
