When I walked into the Vanity Fair Lingerie Lounge in Scottsdale, Arizona last month, I fully expected to be told that my current bra size was incorrect. After all, nearly two-thirds of women today are wearing an improperly fitting bra. Your first response might be, so what? According to this article, in Science World Report, poor posture, back, neck, and digestive problems have all been linked back to an ill-fitting bra.
Thanks to Vanity Fair, I have some tips to ensure your bra fits perfectly every single time. Before you check for fit, you’ll want to take a few measurements to find your size. You can opt to be sized at most department stores or easily complete this process yourself.
How to Measure Your Bra Size:
1. Wear an unpadded bra in the size you believe is correct
2. With a measuring tape parallel to the floor and under your bra, wrap the tape directly underneath your bust.
3. Pull the tape snug to read your measurement. This is your band size.
4. To find your cup size, wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust.
5. Keeping the measuring tape parallel to the floor, relax your arms to your sides and read your measurement. be sure you don’t stretch the measuring tape too tightly.

How to Get the Perfect Bra Fit:
1. Two-Finger Strap Test: Are the straps snug on your shoulders but loose enough to slide two fingers underneath?
2. Fill Check: Peek inside. Do the cups fit smoothly against you with no gaps or wrinkles?
3. Maximum Lift Test: Turn to the side. Are your breasts sitting halfway between your shoulders and elbows?
4. Center Challenge: Does the center piece lay flat against you without buckling?
5. Spill Check: Do you fit into the cups without spilling over the tops?
6. Two-Finger Band Check: Is the band tight enough to support you but loose enough to pass the two-finger test?
7. Stretch Test: Raise you arms, bend over, twist. Does the band stay in place (no hiking up in back)?
8. Hook Check: Does the band fit you best on the middle hook?
9. Comfort Check: Does every single part of this bra feel comfortable on you?
10. Top Test: Put your top on. How do you look? Seamless? Smooth? Lifted?
When you are wearing a bra that fits perfectly, your posture will reflect it. You’ll also notice a difference in the way you wear your clothing.
