Holiday Outfits Kids Can Wear Beyond Christmas

One afternoon, as I was snapping candid photos of my kids playing, my son asked me why I take so many photographs. My father studied the art form and worked in the industry his entire life, so the short answer was that it is deeply ingrained within us. More importantly, I want my kids to be able to recall simple moments like a hug shared between siblings, long after their vacillating relationship is replaced with one that is more mature.

Holiday photos, often taken with a Christmas tree in the background, are an important part of how we celebrate the season. And we always dress up for the occasion. Rather than selecting items my kids will only wear a few times during Christmas, I opted for comfortable, festive outfits that boast colors from the season. What I love about the outfits my kids’ are sporting this Christmas is that they’re each appropriate for occasions outside of and beyond Christmas.

Holiday Outfits for Girls

My daughter picked out George Girls’ Soutache Sequin Holiday Dress in Classic Red, which is currently priced at just $7. This dress is stunning and features a Soutache and Sequin knit top, a mesh bottom and drop shoulder sleeves. Made from soft, lightweight fabrics for ultimate comfort this dress is available in classic red, nude, and black tusk, all of which would be appropriate for the holiday season. Because of the simple elegance afforded, I know my daughter will wear this dress for church and many of our other regular engagements.

After trying on several pairs of black flats, my daughter chose Faded Glory’s Criss-Cross Ballet Flats. The struggle to find durable, stylish kids’ shoes often compels me to spend more money in hopes of longevity. When I saw these shoes, I anticipated their price would be much higher than reflected. Not only are these ballet flats uber comfy, they are durable enough for play (as opposed to being limited to special occasions). The criss cross straps ensure a comfortable, custom fit while the sole offers stability.

Boys' Holiday Outfit

One of my best tips for styling boys is to start with a durable pair of pants that boast comfort and style, then dress them up or down depending on the occasion. My son doesn’t typically wear anything other than jeans, but he spotted these these Flat Front Twill Pants from George Boys and decided to pair them with a long-sleeve hooded tee from Wrangler. The pants boast a comfy, relaxed look and boast an adjustable waist, so boys will get the most life out of them. Despite their dark color, I know that any spills will show which is why I’m happy that the fabrics used are stain-resistant.

Wrangler’s Long Sleeve Pullover Hoodie is my son’s new favorite shirt. We chose the black shirt which features red striped accents and coordinated perfectly with my daughter’s holiday dress. While lightweight as far as fabrics are concerned, the 2-fer long sleeves offer a layered look and the hoddie will protect children from the cold and wind.

I’m trying to find some nice clothes for my kids for Christmas. It makes sense that I would want to take pants into account! I’ll make sure I find something durable that they can use.
