Holiday Gift Guide 2009: nuNAAT Chocolate Special

Posted by Caryn Bailey Leave a Comment

I know what you’re thinking….mmmm….chocolate!  Well…this is no ordinary chocolate for consumption.  nuNAAT Chocolate Special is a luxurious line of products for the hair.  I have thick, curly hair that tends to get wild when I don’t have product in it.  When you combine that with years of highlighting, blow drying, and straightening, it doesn’t make for the healthiest hair.  In order for it to look decent, these are the things I need to do.  I also live in a dry climate so I don’t get any benefits from humidity.

Because of all the stress my hair is under, I’m always open to trying new products designed to help with dry, damaged, chemically-treated hair. Brazilian cosmetic company nuNAAT, offers hair and body products made with natural ingredients, mainly from the Amazon forest (impressive!).  I had an opportunity to try the Cream Chocolate Mask and Antifrizz Therma Active Chocolate.  Naturally, the first thing I noticed about both products was the smooth creamy texture and incredible, but not overwhelming, smell of chocolate.  I’ve been using the Antifrizz Therma Active Chocolate before I blow dry and flat iron my hair.  I’ve noticed that my hair comes out smoother with less fly aways and frizz.  What I really like about the product is that it’s not greasy and doesn’t leave a residue. Many products designed to smooth away frizz actually leave a coating, that’s even visible on the flat iron.  This is not the case with the Antifrizz Therma Active Chocolate.  The main ingredients are Cocoa Butter and Brazil Nut.  And it’s almost good enough to eat (but don’t!).

About once a week, I’ve been using the Cream Chocolate Mask.  This is the ultimate in hair conditioner.  The main ingredients are Cocoa Butter and Brazil Nut but the texture feels different from the Antifrizz Therma Chocolate.  The only thing about using this mask is that you need time (I’ve sometimes had to cut my shower short when my toddler is calling for me).  To really be effective, it’s recommended that it stay on for 20 minutes.  When I’ve actually kept it on for the required amount of time, my hair feels soft and combs very easily.   Again, the smell is wonderful but not overly intense.

Along with the two products mentioned above, nuNAAT’s Chocolate Special line includes a Creamy Chocolate Shampoo and a Shake Chocolate Conditioner.  The products are very affordable (about half the cost of salon products) and the company uses ecological processes and sustainable development when manufacturing their products.  Products retail for around $7 and can be purchased online.  The entire line retails for $26.10 which is a great price!

I’ll leave you with an interesting fact I learned from the company…

Did you know the scent of chocolate can increase theta brain waves and relax you?
