Holiday Gift Guide 2009: Kota & Pals

Posted by Caryn Bailey 2 Comments

The holiday season is approaching quickly, and one of the things I’ll be doing is featuring the latest and  most popular toys for children.  A few months ago, I attended BlogHer in Chicago and had an opportunity to chat with some of the reps from Hasbro.  Three of us bloggers had an opportunity to spend some time looking at their newest line of toys, one of which included was their line of Dino-Roar Hatchlings.

If your children like animals (my son does!), then they will be captivated by Hasbro’s Kota & Pals, interactive dinosaurs that move and talk.  When we first opened this, my son was a little hesitant. However, he has grown to really like his little dinosaur hatchling.  Here is a little more information from the site:

Soft and snuggly, this baby dinosaur hatchling figure comes to “life”! Pet its back to “wake” him up. He roars like a real dino hatchling! Its head and mouth really move! And even though he looks rough and scaly, his soft “skin” will have you petting your pet dino all day long! Your prehistoric playmate even comes with a discovery sheet so you’ll know a few interesting facts about your new friend.

Toys that do more than just entertain get my approval.  Concepts like “imagination, conceptual thinking, language, tactile play, bonding and attachment, cause and effect, and fine motor skills” are emphasized with Hasbro’s DinoRoars Hatchlings.  Our little baby dinosaur is cute (as opposed to scary), soft, and snuggly.  I think the only thing I’d change is that I’d really like him to walk in addition to moving and “talking.”

The baby dinosaur hatchling is recommended for children over the age of three and retails for $14.99.  Here he is in action!  We still haven’t named him yet…any suggestions?

That is cool Did you ever see a houseplant MOVE when Tickled?
If you want to get your children excited about nature….this educational product is sweeping the country. It’s called the TickleMe Plant. It”s a real plant that Moves when you Tickle It. The leaves close and even the branches droop when Tickled. Now it can easily be grown indoors year round. Who know a plant could move when Tickled. You can see the video and its even more fun to grow your own. My Students love it.
