Hilton Garden Inn Los Angeles/Hollywood: An Affordable, Luxury Hotel In a Central Location

Posted by Caryn Bailey 15 Comments

It’s funny how you can live a place your whole life and still manage to miss things.  As a young adult driving to work each morning, my route involved a drive through Hollywood…the Hollywood Bowl…Hollywood & Highland Center…the Hollywood Walk of Fame…Grauman’s Chinese Theatre…the El Capitan Theatre.  Yet never did I recall seeing a single hotel along that stretch (likely because I never imagined I would have a need to stay in a hotel when I lived so close to the city).

People come to Hollywood from all over the world for film, art, culture, food and perhaps the hopes of seeing their favorite actor at one of the city’s boutique shops, cafes, and hotels.  As you can imagine, finding an affordable, centrally-located place to lay your head can be a challenge.

As someone who loves to travel and has visited cities all over the world, I’ve stayed in hostels not worthy of a single star, luxury, five-star hotels that far exceeded any classification system, and everything in between.  I’m not incredibly picky, but I do have my requisites which include cleanliness, a central location, and affordability.

During a recent stay in Hollywood with Disney, I was treated to 2 nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Los Angeles/Hollywood.  My husband and I are very familiar with the Hilton brand and have stayed in a number of their hotels all over the world. The brand is known for providing comfortable, affordable, centrally-located accommodations.  Hilton actually offers guests 10 brands including luxury hotels, full-service hotels, and focused service hotels including Waldorf Astoria, Embassy Suites, and Hilton Garden Inn.

The Hilton Garden Inn is a chain of upscale, yet affordable hotels.  The Hollywood location, which just opened in March of this year, is within walking distance of Hollywood’s most prominent destinations which makes it a convenient place to stay in the city.  Upon entering, the hotel feels warm and luxurious with it’s Pavilion lobby, lounge area, and fireplace. I didn’t spend much time downstairs, but there is a 24-hour business center that offers audio/visual, secretarial, express mail, and photocopying services for business travelers.

The rooms are just gorgeous and exceeded my expectations.  The beds are dreamy and feature Serta’s cozy Perfect Sleeper mattress.  Some of my favorite amenities include complimentary WiFi (I wish more hotels would offer this), the spacious office desk, the LCD HDTVs, and the in-room hospitality center which includes a mini fridge, microwave oven and coffee maker (perfect for families traveling together).

One of the features I’ve grown to appreciate about many of the Hilton brands is their complimentary, cooked-to-order breakfast which includes omelets, fruit, breads and waffles.  This is particularly helpful when traveling with kids since breakfast is always a difficult time for us when we’re trying to get out of the hotel to sight see.

While I didn’t get an opportunity to eat at the hotel restaurant (The Great American Grill), it’s open from 6 am to 10 pm each day and serves local American cuisine. Of note, during our stay, in-room dining was not available, however, the hotel offers a 24 hour Pavilion Pantry with a selection of sweet and salty snacks, cold beverages, fresh, frozen and microwaveable foods, and other necessities.

After a day on the town, you’ll likely want to relax!  The hotel offers an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub as well as a fitness center with state-of-the art cardiovascular and strength training equipment.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend the hotel as an option for families traveling to the LA area as it’s affordable, comfortable, and centrally-located.  For more information, including rates and availability, just visit the website.

Wow! I want to stay there. 🙂 That is awesome that you get a cooked-to-order breakfast, too. A lot of the hotels only have muffins and bagels if breakfast is included. 🙂
