Sometimes I think I take the suggestion to eat “small, frequent meals” too literally and use it as an excuse to snack. While I should be snacking on raw veggies and hummus, sometimes I want something sweet or salty.
I was first introduced to popchips last year at the Natural Products Expo. These all-natural “popped” chips are made from wholesome potatoes with a hint of natural seasonings and offered in seven tasty flavors. I like chips…the “real” chips filled with salt, oil, and other difficult-to-pronounce ingredients. But because I can’t bring myself to eat trans fats and MSG, I exercise restraint. popchips offer the crunch and flavor of “real” chips without preservatives, hydrogenated oils, or other ingredients that should not be consumed.
I find the concept interesting…popping a potato like you would a kernel of corn. The process of popping means that these chips have less fat, zero trans fats and zero cholesterol. Unlike baked chips, which consequently are lacking in flavor but still contain a ton of artificial ingredients, popchips taste good. They have a delicious crunch and distinct flavors, a result of the company’s blend of seasonings.
