I sit here snuggling with my littles and I honestly find it hard to believe that Christmas Day has come and gone. We spent the day with family, celebrating the birth of our Savior over delightful food and lively conversation. The kids were showered with presents and they’re happily playing next to me as I open up the computer for the first time in more than 24 hours. Earlier this week, Jason and I were discussing our plans (or lack thereof) for New Year’s and we decided that for the very first time, we’ll be celebrating at Knott’s Berry Farm!
Now that we have kids, our New Year’s Eve celebrations must be family-friendly and early enough that my children will still be awake. Knott’s Berry Farm will host a variety of entertainment for both young and old throughout the celebration including fireworks, live music, comedy, and dancing. Here is a brief overview of the events happening this New Year’s at Knott’s!
Live Entertainment
The party begins with popular music spun by DJ Reesso at the Calico Stage from 7 pm to 10 pm. Then, go back in time to the 80’s when The Reflexx performs music from Depeche Mode, Flock of Seagulls, A-Ha, and more (10 pm to 1 am).
If you love country and comedy, you’ll want to be sure to see Krazy Kirk & The Hillbillies perform on the Wilderness Dance Hall Stage (Performs at 8:15pm, 9:45pm, 11:15pm, 12:15am)
Unlike most comedy shows, the whole family can watch Dana Daniels perform as he combines clean comedy and spectacular magic. (Performs at the Boardwalk Ballroom at 9:30pm, 11:00pm, 12:15am)
Tweens and teens can move and groove to the beat of Sharp Turn Ahead. These 13 year old twin brothers combine an acoustic guitar with the keyboard, playing original music and some of today’s pop hits. (Performs at the Camp Snoopy Theater at 7:00pm, 8:30pm, 10:00pm)
Dancing
During the nighttime celebration, you’ll have two opportunities to show off your best dance moves. Join Louie Angon, DJ JC and Snoopy at the Fiesta Plaza for Salsa Dancing at 9:00pm, 10:00pm, 11:00pm, and 12:15am.
If line dancing is your skill, check out the scene at the Wilderness Dance Hall at 7:30pm, 9:00pm, and 10:30pm.
For the Kids
While all of the activities presented this evening are family-friendly, there are two I highly recommend specifically for families with small children. It’s Christmas, Snoopy will present encore performances throughout the evening at 4:30pm, 6:30pm, and 8:30pm. This show is absolutely spectacular and combines beautiful ice skating with a delightful holiday story.
Once the sun sets, head over to Camp Snoopy to see Snoopy’s Magical Nights of Lights display which features thousands of sparkling lights and holiday music.
Festive Food
After a day of play, fuel up at Spur’s Chophouse. This New Year’s Eve, the restaurant is offering a special buffet which includes roasted prime rib, ham, turkey, a pasta station and peel-and-eat shrimp. Be sure to stop by early as seating is first come, first served from 5 pm to 9 pm.
Ring in the New Year
The day-long celebration culminates with a Midnight Party on the Midway. Beginning at 11:50 pm, count down the new year with music, party hats, noisemakers, and stilt walkers. New this year, the Knott’s Sky Cabin will be outfitted with special lighting effects and rise to the top of the “K” tower to count down the final moments of 2013. Once the clock strikes midnight, the nighttime sky will be filled with fireworks.
All of the above activities are included with admission so be sure to mark your calendars and plan to spend New Year’s Eve with Snoopy and the gang at Knott’s Berry Farm. If you’ll be celebrating at the park, let me know in the comments section as I’d love to say hi!
