Every year, I find myself approaching Thanksgiving with the surreal realization that Christmas is just a month and a half away. And every year I vow to start my shopping earlier. The best deals can typically be found the weekend of Black Friday into Cyber Monday, so I often wait until this time of year to do a majority of my shopping. While my list is not as lengthy as some, I always have a few people on my list that can be difficult to shop for. Combined with the need to buy gifts for everyone from grandparents to co-workers, I typically try to purchase gifts under $50 to stick with some kind of budget.
Shopping for my kids is a breeze. Their Christmas Wish Lists become my own personal shopping lists. I often glean inspiration for friends and co-workers by perusing the internet for trends. And when it comes to family, particularly grandparents, photo gifts and gifts that evoke nostalgia are always well-received. With so many people to shop for, JCPenney is my go-to destination. The season is busy, and I appreciate that I can shop one store for everything from home decor and kitchenware to toys, clothes, and tech.

JCPenney Challenge
Earlier this week, I headed to my local JCPenney to begin my Christmas shopping. This year, JCPenney is challenging families to get everything on their list for less than they think, so I decided to join the #JCPChallenge. I made a tentative list and vowed to spend $50 or less on each person I was shopping for, including my kids!
I am a frequent JCPenney shopper, but when I walked into my local store, I was surprised and delighted to find a wide assortment of gifts for everyone on my list. From toys and tech, to trending styles and beautifully arranged gift boxes, JCPenney fuses quality, value, and affordability.
This gifting season, take the holiday challenge at JCPenney and beat your holiday budget. Get all you want for less
than you think—from hot trending items and holiday must-haves to unexpected finds—all available in-store or online at a great value.
Gifts Under $50
Gifts for Him
Spoil that man in your life by upgrading his accessories. JCPenney offers a variety of competitively priced designer wallets from Claiborne, Geoffrey Beene, Van Heusen. Stylish watches can be found at any price range from a wide variety of designers including Seiko, Citizen, Peugeot, and G-shock. With a budget of just $50, I was able to purchase Tri-Coastal Design’s Charging Wallet and Arizona’s 5-Piece Boxed Watch Set for just $33.98 plus tax. Both items are currently on sale, and with my coupon, I saved a total of $52.02.
Virtual Reality is one of the hottest tech trends this year. Transport him to a world of adventure with this Tzumi Dream Vision Virtual Reality headset, which includes built-in retractable earbuds and has 360-degree video compatibility. This VR headset is currently on sale for $9.99.
Gifts for Her
Help her display all of those photos she has on her phone with a beautiful collection of photo-inspired gifts. Start with a modern frame which can be used to display photos of her kids or her family. Compliment the frame with a Christmas ornament and a holiday-scented candle. I found the perfect holiday frame in the home decor section at my local JCPenney. Merry Christmas Clip Tabletop Frame features a painted wood finish and an easel back while the sparkle photo frame ornament holds one small photo and includes the saying “She leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes.” The WoodWick Candle features a Crimson Berries scent blended with warm spice and mistletoe essence and is housed in a beautiful Plaid Tumbler. The total cost of the 3 items was $27.97 plus tax and I saved a total of $24.02.
In an age where practically everything can be done from our smart phones, having a full battery is essential. Rather than lugging around an external battery, charge in style with Liz Claiborne’s Charging Wristlet. This wristlet is adorable and available in over 20 colors. Get it now for just $19.99.
Gifts for the Home
As a homeowner, I always appreciate a gift that can compliment my living spaces. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and combined with the fact that I am a foodie, kitchen tools and gadgets are always a “win.” JCPenney recently partnered with Food Network star and cookbook author Ayesha Curry for a new line of cookware which includes stylish kitchen tools, a 12-piece enamel cookware set in twilight teal and brown sugar, and a 11-piece hard-anodized set with a copper interior. Any of the pieces in the collection would make for a beautiful gift for the foodie in your life. I chose a cutting board, a 2-piece silicone spatula set, and a 2-piece wooden kitchen utensil set. Most of the items in the Ayesha collection are on sale. The total cost for the above 3 items was $45.02 plus tax with a savings of $43.98.
Are you shopping for someone who loves to cook? This Cooks Slow Cooker is currently on sale for just $9.99. This slow cooker is ideal for anyone with limited countertop space and has the capacity to prepare a 2-person meal. Available in a variety of prints and colors, this slow cooker will compliment small spaces and can easily be transported to your next holiday party.
