Pregnancy is one of the most beautiful life events. The very fact that a woman has life growing inside of her emits radiance. Sadly, women are often overly concerned with weight gain and it’s counterpart…the dreaded stretch marks.
When I found out I was pregnant with our little munchkin, I was overcome with joy. One of the first things I did was photograph my growing belly. It seemed like every week I was asking hubby if I was “showing.” I wanted the world to know that I was about to become a mom. People said I “glowed,” even at the end.
I had the same fears about weight gain that most women have. But a complicated pregnancy including a threatened loss, and over 5 months of bedrest redirected my perspective. Rather than being concerned about weight gain, I focused on being healthy so that my baby would be healthy.
I was on bedrest for most of my pregnancy but I still bought myself pretty maternity clothes and got myself “ready” every day…even if it was just for hubby. I was determined to enjoy my pregnancy and to look as good as I could! When I was released from bedrest hubby and I went to the beach for a very informal photoshoot. I am so glad we took those pictures. I had a very difficult and scary pregnancy. But I look at those pictures and my almost 9 month old baby boy and am overwhelmed with gratefulness and joy.
For all of you preggie mommies-to-be…strive to look your best. If nothing else it will help you feel better. And you’ll look back with fondness and longing for the days when you could linger in front of the mirror perfecting your hair and makeup without a baby demanding your attention! : )

Thanks for redirecting us to your beach “photo shoot.” I don’t think I saw those photos when they were originally posted. How wonderful that you were able to enjoy your pregnancy and feel good about yourself until the very end!
