Somewhere between 7 and 8, my daughter started watching tween shows on the Disney Channel. Sofia the First and Elena of Avalor were replaced with Stuck in the Middle, Austin & Ally, and Descendants on repeat! My kids have grown up watching Disney TV shows and movies, and I appreciate that the brand offers content tailored to every age and stage. Over the weekend, my daughter and I had a girls’ day out at Disneyland to celebrate the debut of Gabby Duran & The Unsittables. If your tween is a fan of the book series, he/she will love this funny, new comedy premiering on the Disney Channel and Disney Now, October 11, 2019.
Consideration provided by Disney.
Gabby Duran & The Unsittables
Author Elise Allen’s Gabby Duran book series will come to life on the Disney Channel and Disney Now this Fall! Like the book series, the show will follow the story of Gabby Duran, a courageous 13-year-old girl
who inadvertently lands a job babysitting an unruly group of VIP extraterrestrial children who are hiding out on Earth disguised as everyday kids. Gabby has always felt like she has lived in the shadows of her accomplished mother and smart younger sister. When Gabby lands this important and unconventional job, she steps up to the challenge resourcefully, to protect the children and their secret identities.
Actress/musician Kylie Cantrall stars as Gabby Duran. Maxwell Acee Donovan will star as Gabby’s bestie and conspiracy theorist, Wesley; Coco Christo will star as Gabby’s overachieving little sis, Olivia; Nathan Lovejoy will star as the wacky Principal Swift; Valery Ortiz will star as Gabby’s caring and career-driven mom, Dina; and Callan Farris will star as Jeremy, a shape-shifting alien and Gabby’s first babysitting assignment.
Episode 1
Gabby Duran lands an out-of-this-world job in her new town, thanks to her Principal. But this babysitting job is anything but conventional as she learns that she will be babysitting an unruly group of important extraterrestrial children who are hiding out on Earth.
My daughter and I laughed throughout the first episode and found the show to be original and engaging. Through the series, Gabby will continue to develop as a fierce new heroine who’s journey towards acceptance and self-discovery is relevant for tweens and teens.
The Disney Channel has already announced a second season of the interstellar family comedy “Gabby Duran & the Unsittables.” See Gabby Duran this Friday October 11, 2019 at 9:00 p.m. EDT/PDT on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.
